PCSX2-1.3.0-598 continuously crashing
#1
PCSX2 keeps crashing at random times whenever I go into the GSdx settings (and sometimes even when I click on 'Exit'). I say at random times because it doesn't always do it the first time (but it does always eventually do it), sometimes it takes a couple of times of me opening GSdx for it to crash. I'd like to note that I haven't tried opening other Plugin Settings to see if they also makes it crash. From what I can tell this started happening once I hooked up my third monitor to my IGP while running my two main monitors from my 7950. It might be a coincidence but I don't think it is because it only seems to crash while a game is running. I can open GSdx's settings a million times without having a game running and it doesn't crash. I have since unplugged my third monitor and restarted my computer but the problem has persisted. I also attached the emuLog.txt file, even though I don't see anything relevant in it. In this specific run, PCSX2 crashed the second time I opened up the GSdx settings. My settings are all at their defaults except for the fact that I have MTVU enabled. I'd also like to note that the issue happens with whatever game I try running, so I highly doubt it's my FFX image.

Specs are in my sig, build is in the topic.

EDIT:
It seems like the issue is indeed related to GSdx because I just opened and closed the SPU2-X settings quite a number of times and it didn't crash PCSX2 but as soon as I opened GSdx, it crashed. I've attached the emuLog.txt of this run as well, just in case.

Not sure if its related but have you tried unzipping your game to bypass the gzip parameters? Its worth a shot.

I wouldn't think it's related since I've had all of my images gzipped for a while now but I'll surely give it a shot. I'll report back in a few.

Have you tried with older version? Like 1.2.1 stable?

Also just for my information, see if you can cause it to crash by repeatedly pressing F9 quickly...

I have not tried another version, no. Even if another version fixes it, will that really prove anything? This version was working just fine before. :-\

I'm pretty sure that'll make it crash, I've had PCSX2 crash before by switching between software and hardware. I'll give it a shot though, one sec.

EDIT:
Well I don't think it crashed but it's certainly frozen lol

EDIT 2:
Yeah it definitely froze. I had to kill it myself. I guess that counts as a crash...? You want an emuLog.txt for it?

EDIT 3:
Still crashes on a 1.2.1

I suspect your error is the same as this: http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Bug-Repor...SLUS-21782 possibly. That's why I asked you to test the software switch. I think when GSdx reinitializes, it can crash on some systems. Software mode re inits GSdx just as opening and closing it's plugin panel does.

To see if it's the same issue, enable synchronized MTGS and try to crash it both ways. If it still crashes, it's a different issue. If not...

As far as trying a different version, if you can find where it started first, then we may be able to fix it(assuming it's an issue with PCSX2, which I suspect it is).

Not sure why you mean by 'when it started first' since it's started doing it (at least this often) only recently and I hadn't changed PCSX2 versions. BTW for me it crashes even with "Use Synchronized MTGS" enabled.

Does the software mode switch crash with MTGS? Hmm.

And I know. But you exposed some flaw or some weirdness somewhere in PCSX2 with your monitor setup. Say for instance you test 1.0.0 and it doesn't do it. Then we can say the issue is likely PCSX2. Say for instance you test 1.0.0 and it DOES do it, then we can say the issue is likely something in your set up.

Edit: This is kind of a unique issue so I am just trying to narrow down where to look for the solution.

Yeah mashing F9 crashes it with MTGS on. At least on 1.2.1. Want me to try it on 1.3.0-598?

Fair enough, time to dig into the backlog then. Smile
