PCSX2 Requirement Inquiry
#1
Hi I’ve used PCSX2 on a gaming laptop I had before and had no issues, I downloaded it again months ago for my gaming desktop and having a huge speed/FPS drop off on every single game I try to emulate was wondering if it’s my PC or maybe something to do with the emulator itself. If anyone can help me please do as I’ve definitely wanted to go back to some these PS2 classics but don’t feel like pulling out the old system, my PC Specs are as follows........

CPU: AMD FX 6300 (Six Core Processor, 3500 Mhz, 3 core’s, 6 logical processors
GPU: EVGA Nvidia GTX 1060
Motherboard: GA-78LMT-USB3 R2

Your graphics card is pretty good, but the CPU is pretty weak. For PCSX2, they recommend your CPU have a single thread performance of at least 2000. Give or take depending what games you're trying to play. Your CPU has a single thread performance of only 1479/ So that's pretty weak for this emulator. You might need to invest in a new CPU
Windows 11 64 bit OS
Intel Core i7-10700
Geforce RTX 2060 6GB

At stock clocks, that cpu is going to suffer. Some games still had slowdowns on my GF's Fx6300 at 4.4ghz

Ok that’s what I was thinking, it runs a lot of games perfectly so thought it could of been PCSX2 just wanted to make sure, I was thinking of upgrading the Motherboard and the CPU would an Ryzen 5 be able to run PCSX2 smoothly or should I get something a little more powerful? On a budget so I can’t go nuts.

I have a Ryzen 5 3600 and my wife has a Ryzen 5 3550 in her laptop and they both are great for PCSX2, no issues at all.

I used to have an I7-6700 cpu, I never had any lags. Since you have a budget, you might choose it.
