PCSX2 crash at D3D10, and show black screen at D3D9
#1
Hi guys,

As the subject mentioned, all I get from running PCSX2 is either a black screen, or PCSX2 crashes itself. So far I've tried all these options: running No Disc to boot into PS2's virtual BIOS config, running a FFX DVD, or running this ELF file called starsim. The results have been all the same: black screen and not running with D3D9 (Hardware/Software), or PCSX2 crashes with D3D10 (Hardware/Software).

This is my computer spec:
Windows 7 Professional 32 bit
2 GB RAM
Intel Core 2 Duo T6570 @ 2.1 Ghz
ATI Radeon Mobility HD 4570, 512 MB RAM

And here are my plugins settings:
Everything else not listed here is at default setting.

PCSX2 0.9.8
BIOS ROM: USA v01.60 Console
===
GSdx 4600 SSSE3:
Renderer: tried both D3D10 and D3D9 Hardware/Software
Interlacing: None
Native PS2 resolution
Disallow 8-bit texture
Other settings are greyed out.
===
SSSPSX Pressure Mod
===
SPU2-X:
Interpolation: Catmull-Rom
Module: No Sound
everything else is by default
===
CDVD: cdvdGigaherz

It appears that your trouble is in the way you're loading the game.

I suggest you use Imgburn to make an ISO image file from the disc.

Then, use the "Iso" option under CDVD and browse for your ISO using the "Iso Selector".

Try to Boot CDVD (fast) this way.

As far as I noticed you're second person with similar problem, if you can, make an iso image of your DVD disc and play from it, if you cannot, make sure in CDVD menu you have "plugin" selected, and inside CDVD plugin settings you have selected the DVD drive you put your discs, you could also try and download one of the latest builds of PCSX2 from here: http://buildbot.orphis.net/pcsx2/ but frankly, for me it works in both 4600 and latest. Maybe it's your DVD-ROM someway problematic for CDVD plugin.

Meaning I don't have ANY problem with CDVD, BUT I'm running on GSdx SSE2 as having amd cpu:3...

Hmm and now the one thing I noticed you and that other person that have similar problem: http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Problem-r...from-discs both are running GSDX SSSE3, it seems to not give much anyway soo as your cpu have SSE4.1 try to use that or if it fails too, use SSE2 to test if by any chance it isn't GSdx ssse3 problem.

So far all the reply has been about my PCSX2 not being able to run from DVD. What about the virtual BIOS configuration screen and splash screen when PCSX2 run under No Disc? Because as I stated in the original post, my PCSX2 either crash with D3D10 or doesn't show anything with D3D9.

Currently I'm burning my FFX into iso file. I'll post the result when I'm done with this.

Running from an image file is flat-out recommended. Playing directly off the disc is notorious for lag/speed issues.

I also wouldn't recommend using an SVN quite yet. At least not until you've got a stable version working. Wink

If you really wanna address your issue in the first place, I'd guess it was something in the way you've set the CDVD plugin. Like when you were trying to run the ELF file, but the emu was clearly aimed at "D:\"...

Code:
HLE Host: Set 'host:' root path to: D:\

Using my suggestion, you need not worry how it's configured. Just make sure you're using the "Iso" option.

This is because the elf file is at D:\ Laugh lol. Anyway, what I'm suspecting is the GS plugins since it behave differently for D3D9 and D3D10 :|. And I'm still burning the image ~ Laugh.

"D:\" being your secondary HDD, not a ROM drive. I've seen people target files on the disc before.

Laugh Gotcha. The way your plugins (etc) are also in "D:\". My mistake, overlooked that drive letter til now (was just happy to see things not in "Program Files"). Smile

Eiher way, the internal ISO loader is highly recommended (this is not just my opinion). If nothing else, we'll be eliminating some variables, ya know?

On the GS plugin thing: Is your GPU driver up to date?

You mean my graphic card? Yea it is up to date. Latest driver was from 2 years ago T_T. You know how mobility series always lack support from ATI.

Laugh Hey, had to ask.

Can't burn the ISO T_T, my FFX CD has problems. I can still play it on my PS2 though. Anyway, it looks like I'll need to get another ISO. I also have a P3 FES ISO, but its not with me at the moment. I'll get back to you guys when I got my hand on that ISO Laugh.
