PCSX2 crashing on program configuration (linux)

Hello all!!! This is my first post. I have a problem with PCSX2 on my ubuntu 9.10 system. I have downloaded the linux binary from the pcsx2 website, and i have ps2 bios. When first starting the program I had this problem and I found that my graphics plugin was owned by root (I am trying to configure the gfx plugin right now) but when i changed the owner to me it still crashes after I change a setting and click "ok". Here is the terminal output...

I don't know what the problem was but when I updated to the latest linux beta (PCSX2 r1736) from the stable PCSX2 0.6 version the configuration of the plugins go fine.

Anyway, 0.9.6 is not recommended on Linux -- there was issues (segfault) on lot of games from VTLB implementation. It was fixed around r1200.
