Hello, sorry if I am in the wrong place. I am on Ubuntu 16.10 with a Xeon X3440 and a GTX645 in my Dell Poweredge T110. My games are running about 40-70% speed usually and it is really hard to enjoy that. Is there anything I can do to make it more playable?

Get a better PC ? Be sure that Nvidia driver are properly installed. Check which thread is overloading (EE/GS % on title bar). If EE is near 100% try PCSX2 speedhack. If GS is near 100% try to reduce quality on the GS plugin options.

The single thread rating on your CPU is just over 1000, the recommended STR for PCSX2 is at least 1600. Like gregory said you are going to have to use speedhacks to try and gain a performance boost but depending on the games you would like to play you will need a better computer. If you tell us what you are trying to play we could help you further Laugh

Hello.

I'm having the same problem as @emma.

This is my laptop:
---------------------------------------------------
System Software / Hardware Information

Hardware:
Processor: Intel Core i3-3110M @ 2.40GHz (4 Cores), Motherboard: LENOVO, Chipset: Intel 3rd Gen Core DRAM, Memory: 6144MB, Disk: 500GB Seagate ST500LT012-9WS14, Graphics: Intel 3rd Gen Core, Audio: Conexant CX20757, Network: Qualcomm Atheros QCA8172 Fast + Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 Wireless

Software:
OS: Ubuntu 16.10, Kernel: 4.8.0-34-generic (x86_64), Desktop: Unity 7.5.0, Display Server: X Server 1.18.4, Display Driver: modesetting 1.18.4, OpenGL: 3.3 Mesa 12.0.3, Compiler: GCC 6.2.0 20161005, File-System: ext4, Screen Resolution: 1366x768

Phoronix Test Suite v6.6.1
Interactive Benchmarking
---------------------------------------------------

I'm trying to play "Dragon Ball Z - Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (USA)" with PCSX2 1.5.0-0 (git) and it looks good, but it doesn't run smoothly.

Speeds:
- 130% (Video at the begining and menus)
-  35% - 45% (Fights)

I've set:
Config -> Video (GS) -> Core GS Settings -> [Preset: 4 Agressive]

GS is at 98% but I don't know how to reduce quality at config menu.

Am I doing something wrong with the config? Can this game run on Ubuntu 16.10 near 60fps with my H/W?

Thanks!

* Trilinear is bad for speed (use bilinear PS2)
* Mipmapping is better OFF as most game doesn't use it
* You can try to disable large framebuffer
* You can try to disable the 8 bits texture

Did you enable some hack in the advance settings ?
You could try to disable depth support and to crank up the CRC level to full.

HW is slow and your GPU driver isn't fast neither. Conclusion is can't fly.

As a side note, I really need to reduce the size of the GUI.

Thanks @gregory.

Speed is now:
Menus: 100% or 59.9 fps (EE:40%, GS:75%)
Fights:   35% or  21 fps   (EE:23%, GS:99%)

So, speed of menus and trailers has improved to 100% but in-fights speed (where PCSX2 has to render 3D) is still the same (or lower). Maybe it's my machine, so I'll leave it like that. It's weird because this DBZ game, same ISO, worked great in Windows 8.1 with an earlier version of PCSX2.

Thanks again.

P.D. Yes, you should reduce (or improve) the size of the GUI at video plugin config.

Did you try to disable the depth management ? Do you use an SSE/AVX optimized build ?

Hi Gregory. Sorry for the delay.

EDIT: Wait! It wasn't disabled, now speed is at 70%-80% at the beginning of fights and 50%-55% along a fight! Is there another thing I can configure to make it look more smooth/fast? Thank you.

Check CRC is full. Otherwise no dice. Maybe it will be better when Mesa gets multithread gl.
