PCSX2 not reading saves in memcard
#1
Please help me out. I'm trying to transfer my PS2 save file from my PS3 to play on PCSX2.

PS3 : backwards-compatible, launch 60 GB model
game : Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence (PS2)
save file : *.PSV format

OS : Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) SP1 HAL: 6.1.7601.17514
CPU : Intel i5 760 @ 2.80 GHz quad-core
RAM : 6 GB
model : HP Omni 200-5480qd

PCSX2 : v1.0.0 r5350
PSV Exporter : v1.1
PS2 Save Builder : v0.8
MyMC Alpha : v2.6

Okay here's what I do.

1. copy save file from PS3 to usb drive

2. load the *.PSV file into PSV Exporter

3. use PSV Exporter to extract the files locally

4. drag/drop the extracted files into PS2 Save Builder

5. copy location of extracted files to the "Root/ID" field of PS2 Save Builder

6. File -> Save As -> named it "BASLUS-213591G000001.xps"

7. open memory card 1 image in MyMC

8. File -> Import -> C:\Users\Andrew\Downloads\BASLUS-213591G000001.xps

9. close MyMC, then boot PCSX2 and open Browser to verify save file

10. boot MGS3 and try to load the save file

Why would this not be working?

I've tried saving in *.CBS, *.MAX, *.SPS, and *.XPS from PS2 Save Builder, since those are all the common file types shared by both PS2 Save Builder and MyMC.

For the record, I *can* play the game and save normally, and *that* save file does load after cold-booting PCSX2. Also, both the game and my save file are for the US NTSC version of the game. This issue also occurs with other games, such as Dark Cloud 2.

Does anyone have some advice? I'd appreciate any assistance.

Thanks.

EDIT : This issue has been solved. See Post #6.

Make sure the save is for your game region or version, the save will not show up otherwise.

Edit: Sorry, I should have heed more attention to the screenshots. I'm not sure if the PS3 version can be rolled back, please disregard this post, let's wait someone else with a more based/grounded answer.

Maybe the save is just bad? Have you tried another one?

Step 5 - Root/ID is wrong. Should be BASLUS-213591G000001 not C:\Users\Andrew\Downloads\BASLUS-213591G000001.

Thank you! That was it; it works now! Biggrin

Hey Scarlet, just wanted to say thank you for the awesome DS3 drivers!

But, I followed all his same steps (even making sure the Root/ID was correct) and I still get the same problem. I ripped my actual MGS 3 ISO so I know that I'm using NTSC with a proper region save. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong then?

Thanks

edit: I'm an idiot. I was using MGS 3 saves for MGS 3 Subsistence. it works now, please disregard the post I signed up to make, HA! well, to any other future problems if someone ends up here - make sure you have the game and the save games match up.
