Hey, I'm new to wiki editing so somebody should know how to fix this. I edited the dragon quest page and added a review but now the link shows up twice. Here is the page: http://pcsx2.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon_Quest...ursed_King
System Specs
AMD Phenom II x3 720 @ 3.5GHz
ATI Radeon HD4870 1GB overclocked
4GBs of DDR3 RAM

Hi! Thanks for contributing! I've made the template the way that the square brackets around links are not required! A bit misleading, I know... I'll correct it for you.

Thanks. Is there anyway to make it so that there is the shortcut (in this case IGN.com) and not have the long url? It looks cleaner that way.

Well I think you're right, besides you cannot add more than one link this way. I'll tune the template a little so that '[]' will be useful again, thanks.

there's some kinda useless info there as well, that i think should be templated at least
like pad plugin + version, and cdvd plugin + version
like that changes anything Tongue2
yeah it should probably have instead something like "Requires specific GS: yes/no"
and then info on which GS gives what results in description form

Yes, I agree that some info for all games is useless, but probably the way that Jake propose is not the best one to collect the data (it will confuse too much). I think it's better to hide the info about PAD and CDVD unless it's present (some games may still need the certain plugin version). That's what I thought from the start but it hasn't come to mind later. I'll do it just now.

BUT! You're still welcome to try it your way. This is what the wiki is about. The template is not protected to edit by reg. users. It's here: http://pcsx2.wikia.com/wiki/Template:Infobox_game

i think you're wrong about that. currently the infobox represents a snapshot of one single configuration on one single system that is known to work for a game. but most visitors will have completely different systems and it's also often difficult to replicate the exact same pcsx2 and plugin revisions and their config. that's why the general info "does(n't) need a specific gpu, spu, etc. plugin" with a comment field would be way more useful for the visitors of the wiki. and instead of mentioning the speed hack config that the author of the wiki-page used, include a section called "performance tips", where you can recommend speed hacks and advanced settings like clamp modes for a game. and last but absolutely not least: imo the wiki needs info about the most popular issues with a game (like djose temple, al bhed home, kilika sending, auron look! crashes in ffx), as those will be the main reason to point someone to the wiki, right?

I'm not arguing here. But it can be done either way. No user can propose the info on every possible configuration (because noone really tried them all), and the single conf snapshot already tells a good story about the game. There's a comment field that can be used to clarify any questions. This was my way.
If you what to try do it another way, you're more than welcome to try. Create another template like say "Infobox gamenew" copy all the info from the former one, update it for your taste, and switch template for any filled up game to see the result in motion. And if the result is better and cleaner we'll just wash the old one down! Smile

It's already there. Just take a look.

Of course! I could not agree more! Every page needs it's author to make it usefull not only beautiful. Will you help? (I've gone almost as far as I can because I don't have many games)

heya the genre and genrecat seems a bit ... odd
as I understand the genrecat is used when the genre is not predefined and it uses the genrecat to categorize it
IF possible wouldn't it be better to have multiple genres per game? (like Action|Adventure|Jump&Run) or can I use genrecat multiple times?

Hi! Yep, it's odd. Sad Can't think of other way right now. Maybe later something will come...
It's possible to force it to swallow many at once (a small modification to template is required) but I hasn't done that yet. Hmm, I don't think there're so many games balancing between genres. Am I wrong?
