PCSX2Bonus - A PCSX2 launcher / frontend

It appeared after a dialogue box popped up saying that required directories cannot be left empty (paraphrasing).

Opened up the app (right click, run as admin), dialogue about unable to locate C:\inis, changed PCSX2 directory to C:\PCSX2, left data directory blank, changed default view to stacked, changed default sorting to alphabetical, clicked ok, unhanded exception error. Relaunched the program and it asks me to re-input the directories.

Not sure what happened there since you technically shouldn't be able to bypass that dialog while having a empty textbox for either selection, I'll poke around in that section in a bit and check it out Smile

(02-21-2013, 06:46 PM)Tyestor Wrote: EDIT: Just deleted the program and the roaming folder and followed my steps again but this time inputting a PCSX2 data directory. No dialogue about empty directories but it still gives me an unhandled exception error when I hit OK. When I relaunched the program this time, it seems to be working fine.

Also a preference of mine. I like PCSX2 to be portable and by extension I'd like this to be portable too. I think it would be a good idea to have the configs/whatnot in the same folder as the .exe rather than in the roaming folder. Oh and an auto-update feature would be nice too Smile

Portability is coming, just need to finish up its implementation Tongue2

(02-21-2013, 06:46 PM)Tyestor Wrote: EDIT 2: I also can't seem to dragon .iso files into the app like it says I can.

First tested .iso is: SLPM_666.75 - [NTSC-J]Kingdom Hearts II - Final Mix (English Patched).iso CRC32: 2CCDBEFA

Thats strange because I can add that game just fine in my debug version (via add from serial Tongue2), when adding a game the program browses the image file and finds the serial from that.

eg. [Image: 26lJT]

so if the game contains the serial on the image file it should add o.O
(02-21-2013, 06:46 PM)Tyestor Wrote: EDIT 3: Lol, one last request. I think it'd be a pretty cool idea to implement a way to create shortcuts so you can launch the games like a "real" PC game.

I've actually already implemented this but it hasn't had a lot of testing yet Tongue2 Just control + right click on a game and hit generate executable for a stand alone launcher to the game

I appreciate taking the time to report the errors, it really does help me to fix these things since I can only encounter so many on my own Smile

OminaeYu Wrote:It would be nice to be able to select an executable called pcsx2.exe instead of whatever you have it set to :\

If you're referring to when you select the executable on first start up then yeah, that was definitely my bad Tongue2 I was checking for a executable that contained pcsx2-r(revision number here), updated the latest build to check for that or a straight up file named pcsx2.exe

Thanks for reporting that Smile

Thanks. The patched SLPM is exactly the same as the non patched game. I can add it by going file > add from image file but not by dragging and dropping. As for the exe, I didn't even know that was implemented. Probably has something to do with the fact that you have to ctrl+right click instead of just right clicking it. Is there any reason why it's in a different menu?

That dialogue came up after trying to launch Kingdom Hearts II. Possibly has something to do with portable mode, it didn't happen in seated mode. Press ok launches the game, but this is still probably a bug. Looks messy =) - Also, fixed my issue from earlier. I can drag and drop games if I don't run the program as administrator.

Windows 8 Pro 64-bit

EDIT: Also just noticed that widescreen hacks are not enabled when launching a game from a generated executable. PCSX2 console gives error message:

Code:
The Cheats folder ('cheats') is inaccessible. Skipping...
Overall 0 Cheats loaded
The Widescreen hacks folder ('cheats_ws') is inaccessible. Skipping...
Overall 0 Widescreen hacks loaded

EDIT 2: Another idea, be able to pick which bios loads with which game in the configuration area (if this is possible). I have 4 consoles (2x Aus PAL, 1x NTSC-U and 1x NTSC-J).

Well thats embarrassing, accidentally left in a line of debug code in the release version Blush Took it out in the latest build Tongue2

I'll have the widscreen issue fixed later today when I get home from work, and the bios idea goes well with keeping to the per game configuration so I'll definitely add that Smile

Excellent! Laugh

Your launcher should be included with PCSX2, it's very nice.

Thanks Laugh Got some good news and some bad news though Tongue The bios selection is complete and included in the latest build, however I haven't found a pragmatic way to fix the Cheats folder not being loaded other then placing pcsx2bonus in the same folder as pcsx2.

For some reason the cheats folder is detected fine as long as the launcher is in the same directory as the cheats folder, however once its moved and pcsx2 is launched from the command line via the launcher it stops detecting it o_O

Dammit. Originally I had the .exe and the config folder in a folder called "bonus" which was in the PCSX2 directory. After reading your post I downloaded the new build and moved the new .exe + my old config folder into the PCSX2 root directory (same folder as cheats/cheats_ws) but I still get that error.

In any case, good job with the BIOS implementation. There are a few tweaks that would be nice to see. Having the dialogue look like the PCSX2 dialogue: http://i.imgur.com/RkEYh6d.png - Having all of the files listen in the BIOS folder in the dialogue box is, I feel, pretty messy. I myself have 3 different BIOS' and that's 18 files all up (for some reason NTSC-J has 2 .BIN files in the dialogue even though I only have one in the folder). Second tweak would be to put the BIOS tab on a new line. Having the arrows there makes it look a little clustered. http://i.imgur.com/cmT2iDu.png - Perhaps have GSdx, GS Window and GS on the top line and have VUs, EE/IOPs, Speed Hacks and BIOS on the next line.

EDIT: Also just noticed some options missing from hardware hacks config dialogue.

EDIT 2: Found some more discrepancies.

1. Shade boost sliders not updated. (clicking reset changes it to the position it should be in 50/50/50 but it's not 50/50/50 by default even though in PCSX2 it is)

2. No adapter selection

3. Edge Anti-Aliasing under Software Mode Settings in the GSdx tab won't stay applied. Tick the box, click apply, click ok. Reopen the config and it's unticked.

PS: Please find a way to get widescreen hacks and cheats working, it's the only thing stopping me from using this launcher full time =/
