PS2 arhitecture

Hi.I just wanted to know some parts of PS2.I found a picture of PS2 mobo.And does anybody knows what's the name of that 2 parts with fans.

Those two fans are probably for EE and GS chips.

As far as I know, dma is physically a part of EE.

if this is of any help according to what i read:
"PS2 mainboard architecture sports 10 Free DMA controllers to start with, and then 1 is taken up by DVD-ROM and another 2 by the I/O structure which in turn leaves 7 free to be shared upon the GS and EE."

This picture looks a lot like an early development board.
Certainly has a lot of odd chips and connectors on it Tongue2

And yea, the DMA logic is part of the EE.
It's included in the same processor die, just like VU0 and VU1 are.

I thought the same. The board looks really weird. I've got a disassembled "old" production board here. Doesn't look like anything close to it.

K, looked it up a bit. The image is indeed from one of the earlier PS2 TOOL machines.
Those that go by the "DTL-T10000" (and similar) naming scheme.

Would be quite useful to have Wink
