PS2 had a nice media player, can DVD support be Added?
#1
Just wondering since alot of other software always comes and goes trying to do the same thing that PS2 did from the start.

Is it possible to have it read dvds either from the drive or if we create iso's from our dvds that would be awesome!!!

Even today many digital sales of digital movies online do NOT include all the bonuses we had on our DVD discs so having a good player would be great.

You can get VLC installed on your PC and have a much better experience without the extra overhead of running an emulator on top of decoding the DVD. Less chance for issues, and controls better made for PC (customizable too).

Problem I find is navigating the menus, they dont highlight it seems you just kind of click in the area and it works *sometimes.

Have had problems with most DVS's where the menu feature doesnt even work and nothing can be navigated properly using VLC which is why if possible using the system from PS2 would be great since it did work.  If someone figures out how to turn it on or make it read then at least noone would have to make menus and all that since it is already made and works, hope some hero can find a way to turn the dvd feature on for us Sad

never had any problem using vlc with DVDs.
i think if devs try to implement this, it'll be on very low priority, because it's a feature with little to no real interest
CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
Mobo : Asus PRIME B450-PLUS
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
RAM : 16 Go

Understandable, and interested in the feature.  If anyone else ever is, hopefully they can find this thread to use.

It was pretty legendary the PS2 having the first working DVD player, so if it can work, that would be awesome.

Depending on the game and the format of its video files, you may be able to convert a movie and replace a cutscene. Adapt. Improvise. Overcome.
