PS3 Controller is connected but not inputting

PCSX2 to work fine and games respond to key board input when set up that way.

The controller appears to be successfully connected via BlueTooth 

It is to be found in connected devices on PCSX2 as SDL-03: PS3 Controller

I go into controller 1 Dual Shock 2 click on automatic mapping and click on the SDL and the mapping changes

But then when I start the games I see no input from the controller (having tested on two separate games) - when I change it back to keyboard everything works

It has been some time since I used the controller so I may be neglecting some obvious step but 1 light is on and the controller seems to be in working order to me.

It is now working, although seemingly only when unplugged and so relying on BlueTooth.

But frankly I do not see anything different from how it was yesterday (and I had done a restart the prior day).
