Those Tekken games are really stubborn. I bet the Arcade versions on Tekken 5 would actually need first the PS1 versions to get a working code and then be ported to PS2. I also bet that PS2 on Tekken 5 actually emulates the PS1-based hardware arcade boards for those Arcade versions. That's actually fascinating considering those arcade boards have relatively stronger hardware than PS1 and the emulator seems to do a really spectacular job in accuracy and performance to the point that it's transparent and it feels like the games were actually rebuilt from source code for PS2 specifically.

Here's a "new take" on Spyro 2 in ultrawide, but this time, in HD:
Using ePSXe again after a long time, made me realize that it wasn't that great... I've been using Mednafen for a while now, and its accuracy and input response are currently irreplaceable for me. Even though I use PCSXR-PGXP from time to time just because of the greatness of what it does, PCSX-R's structure sucks (that's a fact). The nativeness of Mednafen coupled with my CRT monitor makes playing PSX games just as enjoyable as playing on my real PlayStation, that is almost dead... And the wobbling and warping is almost imperceptible at 240p (PCSX-R, or Pete'sOGL2 by that matter, can also run at 240p, though). The thing with ePSXe however, might be that it never ran this game well to begin with. I remember trying Spyro 2 the first time doing the CTR cheat, and loving it... On ePSXe though, that was my first PSX emulator, it just crapped out. To this day, there's always some weirdness to it, this time the weird stuttering that is very noticeable on this video, even when running at full 30 FPS. When the FPS dips due to the recording, the audio goes off as well, but even when not recording, there's that weird input lag, stuttering and the "not feel good while playing" feeling. It has nothing to do with the addition of the widescreen hacks, because even without them, there's no comparison with Mednafen. I tried the ePSXe "imitation" plugins too, and they're the same... The only good thing about it really is its audio plugin (that still depends on fullspeed to work well), and maybe the "friendliness" that it always had to it, although it was really hard to set it up a long time ago XD. I couldn't use PGXP on this video for the same reason I didn't use it with Spyro 3. This engine doesn't like PGXP... And my CPU doesn't like the combo, making recording with those improvements impossible. Take my word though, that, visually, PGXP improves this game immensely. The GTE "subPixel precis's'ion" hack can also do something about the wobbling, but it breaks text boxes and makes warping worse on some occasions. Recorded at 1280x960@60 (the highest res I've ever used to record a full video), ResHack X/Y 4, xBRz x4, no fullscreen filter (due to correct multipliers of X and Y axis, making the image sharper without incorrect scaling), but I used a FXAA shader to "kill" aliasing. The way ePSXe works with cheats is stupid too, having to launch a game before enabling a cheat, and then having to restart it, is just dumb. At least the widescreen hack in it works just like in any other emulator.

I can't enjoy PS1 games on real hardware either. PCSXR-PGXP is the only way to go.
