Performance of C2D +HD 5450 on PCSX2?
#11
I seriously think everyone thinks of low specs as worse than they really are, a C2D 1.8Ghz can play a vast number of 3D games, some main titles such as FFx+-2, Resi 4, Resi dead aim, resi veronica, Dark cloud 1+2, fatal frame 1/Project zero 1, dynasty warriors 4 empires, Tenchu 3, Timesplitters 2, clock tower 3, gitaroo man.

These are all 3D and are just the ones I've tried, all full speed, you just gotta set the emulator and the PC right. Of course there are others I've tried that don't get full speed (50fps) such as MGS2/3 and ZOE2.

But people just should not put people down immediately and say "Nah you can't play anything with that, you need 3Ghz at least etc etc."

you get DC 2 running at 50fps? I'm guessing ssse3 is a lot better then sse2 then.. my Phenom 2 965 slows down in some spots in DC 2..

Well I have no experience with AMD hardware, but I've heard clock for clock its worse than Intel for Pcsx2. :\

fezzer dont tell me you run ffx/ffx-2 full speed, cause i tested those games on C2D 2.5ghz Hd4650 1gb, 4gb ddr2 ram, and all speed hacks on as much as possible without causing bugs, using ssse3 plugin dx11, and it still wasnt running perfect, so dont tell people that theres a way to set emulator up that runs those games full speed on c2d 1.8ghz, this shouldnt even be a up for discussion, recommended c2d clock to run pcsx2 comfortably is 3.2ghz or higher http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Will-PCSX...y-computer and its been tested by more than one person on more than one machine.

Well it just does run full speed throughout, I do a bunch of stuff to the comp aswell to make it run more efficient(from within the OS, no hardware changes). w/ 2.5Ghz I'd be able to play FFX on HD1080p probably. This is up for discussion since I ain't lying and your refusing to believe me.

If anything not getting constant full speed with those games on 2.5Ghz sounds like a bit of a fail Tongue

Edit: Emulation isn't simple enough so that all games perform the same, those guidelines that Bositman made are quite right, but that'd be GENERALLY. It would be painstaking to keep track and is always changing anyway how well each game is emulated, FFX+FFX-2 only needs 1.8Ghz and on native FFX probs only needs 1.6Ghz dual.

It's a bit simplistic to say that there are precise boundaries etc.

i wasnt talking about native, who plays pcsx2 on native? the whole point of playing ps2 games on pcsx2 is to play in HD/high resolution, to enjoy ps2 games with pc graphics, otherwise why not just play on ps2?

The claim of getting 1080p with a 2.5 GHz CPU is questionable. That's a parameter based on GPU so even if you have a Core i7-980X oc'ed to 4GHz, if you're only using a 9300 GS, 1080p may still be out of reach. Otherwise, I do agree that it's possible to run FFX full speed on a Core 2 2.5 GHz (with the right settings of course). The game runs at greater than full speed on a stock i7-860 without any speedhacks so it's not really all that difficult.

I see this thread kinda come to life after a bit of a slow start when I posted it yesterday. So can anybody give me an idea what my girl can expect with the c2d 2.33 hgz (going to push it to 3.0 since i'm guying a new cooler for it) and the hd 5450. I'm sure she only going to be interested in playing in native resolution or 480p (if native means 480I).

As I said in my initial post she wont be playing many ps2 games, as she like the 8-early 32 bit era. The ps2 games she will likely play are:

1. Lumines
2. Tetris Worlds
3. Ratchet and Clank series
4. Jak series

How do you gues think a cd2 a 3.0 ghz and a hd 5450 will handle these games at native resolution?

Lol fallacyman.

VDgamer:I can play full speed 1024x1024 on 1.8Ghz I meant that on native you could prob play it 1.6Ghz. Resolution is primarily GPU-related of course.

Ilovejedd: It's easy to believe 2.5Ghz can play these 2 games, but I'm dead serious 1.8Ghz is more than enough for 1024x1024 fullspeed throughout and with a laptop cooler the same applies for 1920x1080p(I've done it).

c2d 3.0ghz+ hd5450 will get you full speeds in most games at decent resolution like 1024x1024, trust me when you see what native resolution looks like, youre not gonna want to play on native.
