Persona 3 FES Interlace Effects in FMVs
#1
I'm getting combing effects in the FMVs from the interlace in Persona 3 and was curious if anyone had any suggestions. You can see it whenever there's motion in the cutscenes. I've attached a pic where you can see the protagonist in the bottom left in motion. I've checked to make sure it's not in the game running off a PS2, which means there must be some setting in PCSX2 that's doing it. I've tried every interlace option (F5) but none of them remove it. I've seen a couple threads mention the same with one solution being to enable "Switch to GSdx software rendering when an FMV plays" but it doesn't fix it for me.

I've tried Direct3D11 Hardware and Software as well as OpenGL Software to no avail. I'm running PCSX2 v1.5.0-dev-2393-g810bec2d6. It's the latest dev version as of this post. I also tried the stable release. Please let me know if you think of anything else I can try, thanks.

That's just how the FMVs were authored, you can't remove the interlacing because the footage is pre-rendered.

Also i don't tested DX render, so is possible that workaround work only on OGL.

Edit: Btw. I tested this on real hardware, and problem don't exist.

This IGN video with the same cutscene doesn't have it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LhuY8atskA

I also don't see notice it running off my PS2, but it's from a small SD tv so the picture quality could just be too bad to see. It seems like only some FMVs in the original have it, yet not the first cutscene (not the opening) so I'm not sure.

There's this deinterlace mod someone created
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1k7jSAf5-A
https://shrinefox.github.io/mods/p3#p3fes-deinterlaced

But I heard it breaks the widescreen hack. It requires modding that's beyond me, so I think I'll just live with it. The maker of the mod said Atlus fixed the interlacing in their "re-release" which must mean FES? It's confusing.
