Persona 3, Game CG Aliasing
The character portraits are pre-rendered, so they're basically just being stretched out, which results in bad quality/weird edges. You'd need to redo the textures for them to get a better quality (HD) image out of that.

Yeah those are pre-rendered, not much you can do there except for turning up the Anisotropic Filtering and the AA. It is as I suspected, you probably didn't see the aliasing in software mode because of the lower resolution making everything less noticeable. Just out of curiosity, what settings did you settle on with hardware mode?
