Persona 4 model issue
#1
Hello, forum! I am experiencing a peculiar problem with some of the models in Persona 4. Some of the 3D models, especially when I'm fusing personas don't render properly and I end up looking at a blank screen with that star background or sometimes the model of the newly fused persona flickers.

Here's a screenshot of what I mean.

My computer is:
AMD Phenom II X4 955, clocked at 3.80GHz
Kingston 8.00GB ram
AMD Radeon HD6870 graphics card
Windows 7 x64

I'm emulating the game with the newest gsdx plugins, Direct3D11(Hardware), texture filtering on, 8 bit textures on, no interlacing and in a custom resolution of 1680x1050.

Is it possible to somehow solve this problem? I've searched the forums high and low for a solution but haven't found any.

Have you tried software rendering? If it shows up there it might be a problem with patches (widescreen maybe?).

Thanks for the reply. I've just tried it in software mode, it's the same story. Also, tried with widescreen off (fit to window option) and it persists. Is there anything else I could try?

I don't know if this is what you meant, but to turn widescreen off, uncheck "Enable Widescreen Patches" in the system menu.

That is weird. I don't have that problem AFAIK. Are you using the PAL or NTSC Persona 4?

I'm gonna make a test real quick, BRB.

I have no widescreen patches for P4, it seems, even with them enabled, it didn't load any. Anyway, I confirmed I don't have the problem on the rig in my signature. This is with 6x(I tested 1680x1050 as well) rendering, texture filtering enabled, 8 bit textures disabled. PCSX2 1.1.0.5475, GSDX 5732 AVX DX11.

I had used ps2force480p on my iso before, which is why it says progressive, but I don't think that would change the results. I'm not sure what's going on for you >_<

Oh, sorry. Didn't understand fully. The "enable widescreen patches" thingy isn't even ticked.

And for some reason I don't have the AVX option available anywhere.

Your CPU doesn't support AVX.

I just tested with SSE2 plugin, it works there as well, and with SSSE3, and SSE4.1.

I'm at a complete loss here. I've tried everything I could imagine regarding graphic options and the model flickering is still there...

You don't have frameskipping or vu cycle stealing enabled, do you?

No frameskipping and the VU cycle has no impact on the flickering, on or off it's the same. Sad
