I just downloaded pscx2 1.0.0 and used the default settings and started playing persona 4 but every 5 minutes my fps slows down by 10 and goes back to normal after 20 seconds. What should I do to fix it?
Laptop Specs:
Intel Core i7 2620m 3.40Ghz
AMD Radeon HD 6630m
8GB ram

it can be spiked by heat...
run coretemp and pcsx2 w/ that game for 5 mins and show us the readings.
you can also try "constant skipping" under the frameskipping category.
or
use VU cycle stealing Lv-1 under speedhacks

there is another thing is to refrain running pcsx2 under laptop batteries.
use AC power

Jesalvein doesn't it also could be that the OPs cpu is throttling?

could be.
But since throttlestop can harm CPU, I'd recommend it as a last resort.

External Drives are mostly slower then internal, so I would say try to put the Image on your internal drive. Game isn't all that huge, but 72 to 80 degrees is very warm o.o Perhaps what also might help is to go and see if you can buy a cooler plate which you can put below it.

*you should run the game on a hard drive or SSD
*the correct cooling of the laptop is require if you want pcsx2 in a laptop to survive the CPU stress due to high-heat.
