pcsx2 performs better on intel, just to mention Wink

not sooo much ^^ what's more important lately is the clocking of the cpu
so whichever is less money for more clockrates XD go for it

Thanks all for the replys. I'm satisfied with the AMD brand (my budget is pretty limited). I'm also in the process of picking up the Radeon HD 4870 X2 to compliment the processor.

An Intel CPU much much better than AMD CPU. Trust me.
I had an AMD @2.6. Comparing an Intel cpu vs AMD clocked at the same speed - its something like comparing airplane and car Smile

The new Phenoms perform quite well actually. A friend of mine has a Phenom II @ 3 GHz and a 4850 and PCSX2 runs almost as fast as my rig when I clock it at 3 GHz ( E8400, 8800GT ). The difference was at most ~10%.

So I would advise you to get what you want and can afford, all that PCSX2 needs for the more demanding games is 3,6GHz+.

Considering that the Phenom II outperforms my E8400 in quad-core optimized programs and certain computational intensive algorithms it is a very nice budget choice.

Of course, if you got lots of money to spend an i7 at 3,6 GHz+ gets you more performance.

not with phenomII

damn not quick enough xD

but true E8400 is about 150€ worth
the phenomII 940 about 200€

E8400 is a dualcore
940 is a quadcore (4 actual cores not HT)

C2D E8400 or higher OCed to 4 GHz can run most compatible games with full speed.

He is cost more, more than C2D and Pcsx2 doesnt support 4 cores. Probably with phenomII 940 you get same FPS as in C2D clocked at the same speed, maybe less coz Phenom do not support SSE 4.1
So, if you have a lot money you can bye phenomII 940 and test itTongue

It's still support 4 cores, but it doesn't use full power of 4 cores, since QuadCore are cheaper now, you can buy a Quadcore cpu for another work
