Thanks Lucky C, I added the CRC as you said, and enabled a few cheats. The log said it recognised the patch and loaded 8 cheats.

unfortunately nothing worked. I obtained the Iso through torrent so no idea what edition as it does not say, I'll assume its the original.

Further help appreciated.

If it turns out they only work for some versions of the game, please tell me which version(s) i need. I'm sure i made it work before, having lost it do to having to reformat my harddrive.

New pnach for Shining Force EXA (NTSC-U)
I tried to get a joker command working for the Infinite Items code, but unfortunately it didn't work. I'll see if I can get that working later. Instead, I added the digits to turn the code off manually for now.

"S+" actually just means S-Rank, but Toma's Twohanded swords for example will now have S-Rank as well in the Attack Speed. Normally this would reach A instead if you used the first line of the code only. Basically it allows you to always have S-Rank, thus bypassing the game's limits.

Note: These codes STAY ON even after turning them off. If you truly want to revert your stats back to normal, you have to turn the codes off, restart the entire game and -then- load via Memory Card Save. You can Save your game just fine with the codes enabled, because the stats aren't permanent, but the code keeps writing after it's turned on once, so this is the only way to turn them off.

Update:
Added new code: All Items dropped are automatically identified. You still need to Identify Partner Equips though for the commands to be enabled.
Updated Attack Speed codes section.. they resulted in major ASPD decrease if you leveled Quick Swing in-game. Read code comments for details.

Apologies if this is the wrong place for this. I posted this on the General Discussion page on the 03/03/ and got no reply so I guess I posted it in the wrong place so maybe people here can help me.

I have made my own .pnach file for Metal Gear Solid 2 - SoL (NTSC SLUS-201.44) using Redlof's Guide and every cheat works apart from the infinite health cheat. So far I’ve tried everything and every format using Omniconvert to try Both CB codes and ARMax codes (converted to raw). The code in the .pnach file is a codetwink code decrypted in CB2crypt (the way redlof does it). It gets weirder though because I also made an .iso of my codebreaker v10 disk and tried it that way (and even tried ripping out the .ELF file) with interesting results. it worked for a little while but then stopped working and about 10 minutes after it crashed the emulator. The thing that annoys me the most is I’m positive that I’ve had it working before but it was a couple year ago so I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong.

While waiting for a reply (on the original post) I have been testing some things to see if I can get it to work. I have remade the .iso for my game after reading about "TLB MISS" errors. Also I have discovered somthing interesting that might help fix this. I have activated an infinite rations cheat and discovered that the game will not let me use a ration irrelevant of my health amount as if my health is already full (but its not as I can see it going down and can be killed) but if I equip the ration and let my health fall to zero it will auto use a ration.

Again while waiting for help (on the original post) I've been playing the game some more and I have discovered what stops the code working. It only works for the first bit of the level as soon as I go through a door into another part of the level it stops working as if its deactivating the code or possably the "address" that the code edits gets moved to another address (hence the crash when using the Codebreaker disc). I hope someone can help me with this as like I said im posotive I have had this working before .
