Problem with Star Ocean 3
#1
Hello Laugh
I have a problem playing Star Ocean 3.
First of all, my specs:

CPU AMD FX-6100 6-Core 3.3GHz AM3+ 8MB Cache 95W
RAM DDR3 8GB 1333MHz CL9
GPU Radeon HD 6870 Core 915MHz Memory GDDR5 4200MHz 1GB

I'm playing with pcsx2 0.9.8 r4800 with the default configuration.
I can play games like Final Fantasy X at full fps, but when I try to play Star Ocean 3 there is a slowdown (the US version runs at 40 fps). Moreover, the images are a bit shaky.

What can I do?
Thank you for your help Laugh

Thank you, and for the slowdown problem?
Maybe I should change something in the configuration? Or my CPU/GPU isn't good enough?

Give latest SVN a try

Enable speed hacks too including MTVU...

I tried the SVN with speed hacks enabled with some improvement, but there are still slowdowns.

you CPU is unfortunately a bit weak for pcsx2...
better play on your PS2 until you can afford better
CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
Mobo : Asus PRIME B450-PLUS
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
RAM : 16 Go

FYI, your processor's architecture were relatively not good for both PC gaming and emulation, so low performance is kinda expected..

Maybe you could try changing Clamp modes to None for both EE/IOP and VU, can be found in Emulation Settings...

Thank you, unfortunately I'm using pcsx2 because my ps2 has problems (not loading some cutscenes and so on), it's very old and it's impossible to play with it.
I'll stick with it, and I'll try some other games. Like FFX Laugh

SO3 is playable at 60FPS with occasional dip on my Phenom II @ 3.2

See if you can get yours to 4GHz and it'll probably enough.
