Problems in Fedora 32
#1
Hello, I have problems when trying to play any game, it throws an error: "GS plugin failed to open. Your computer may have insufficient resources, or incompatible hardware/drivers", the log window says "Error: GLLoader failed to get GL version" and "GS plugin failed to open!(thread:MTGS)(thread:EE Core)".

My system:

Fedora Linux, version 32
NVIDIA Optimus card
NVIDIA Corporation GK106M [GeForce GTX 765M] (rev a1)
Intel Corporation 4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 06)
Drivers and PCSX2 installed from RPMFusion

I have attached the log.txt

Can someone help me?

According to the minimum system specs, your GPU is a little below (~2000 vs 3000).
Your GPU: https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.p...5M&id=2537
Requirements: https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2#system-requirements

However, you might still be able to run some non-demanding games. Can you run other 3D-Applications/Games? Which driver did you install for your GPU?

Please paste the output from the following commands here:
Code:
sudo lshw -class display
inxi -GC

I installed the drivers from RPMFusion with the following command: sudo dnf install akmod-nvidia

The results of the commands are:

Code:
sudo lshw -class display

I think the problem could be that your system tries to start PCSX2 using your integrated Intel graphics instead of your dedicated GPU. Can you disable your iGPU within the BIOS, to check this?

There are solutions for this, but let's verify first if that's your issue.

My BIOS doesn't let me disable the integrated GPU. Anyway I always launch PCSX2 using right click "Launch using the dedicated video card", as you can see in the attached image.

Hm, okay, good that there's such an option integrated directly into the context menu.

Can you verify that your graphics card in general is working properly with other (32-bit) 3D Applications/Games using OpenGL? I'm not sure if you need to install these drivers manually for NVIDIA, using AMD myself.

What happens when you start pcsx2 from your terminal directly? Can you post a log of that output aswell? Did you try older versions of PCSX2 (1.4.0)?

The package xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.i686, which is for running 32 bit apps, was installed when I installed the Nvidia drivers. As for other 3D apps, I know is not the same, but I'm able to successfully emulate PS1 Games with PCSXR.

As for running from the terminal, when I do that it uses the Intel card, I don't know how to make it choose the Nvidia card from the terminal.

How can I install older versions? I installed this from RPMfusion.

Try to find out how to run it with your NVIDIA do that from the terminal.

Probably you can just download the executable for 1.4.0 from https://pcsx2.net/download/releases/linux.html and start it, if you can get all the dependencies (Make sure to install the 32-bit packages!). I'm not familiar with RPMfusion, so can't help you with that.

Ok, I managed to open it in the terminal with the NVIDIA driver using the command:

Code:
__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia PCSX2

Guess what, with that I can successfully boot games! Maybe there's something wrong with the option of right click?

However, there's no audio. I have tried changing the settings of the audio plugin: Port audio, SDL audio, ALSA, OSS, JACK, pulse audio, nothing works.

Here's what gets printed in the terminal:

Code:
Gtk-Message: 21:45:46.052: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"
Gtk-Message: 21:45:46.052: Failed to load module "pk-gtk-module"

I have attached the log.

Thank you for your patience all this time, and note that English is not my first language, so sorry for any mistake I may make.

I thought that option from the context menu probably won't work correct, good that we've tested from the terminal Smile

From your log there's a hint why you have no audio:

Code:
Request SDL audio driver: pulseaudio
ALSA lib dlmisc.c:283:(snd_dlobj_cache_get0) Cannot open shared library /usr/lib/alsa-lib/libasound_module_pcm_pulse.so ((null): /usr/lib/alsa-lib/libasound_module_pcm_pulse.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)
So seems it tries to load the .so from the wrong location.
- Can you check where on your system this library is present?
- Does sound work for other applications?
- Does it make a difference if you change your system's default speaker(probably not, but please try this)? (Make sure to close pcsx2 and restart after you selected another output)
- Do you have a menu for selecting the sound volume per application? If yes, does PCSX2 show up there when running?
