Progressive mode by triangle+X?

Yes, should always be better quality to it's non progressive counterpart.

If you have a game that supports it try it and find out (not all games react the same to settings Tongue).

Edit: This two pics have 4x scaling one is progressive scan the other is blurrier the scene is 5fps slower in progressive scan.

Edit2: Oh in progressive scan you can also just forget about interlacing settings while without needs you to use them to stop the shaking.

I think when you increase the internal resolution, you are forcing the progressive mode. Anyway, tried Suikoden 4 again, pretty much the same. Perhaps, I need to use something such as a hdtv which I don't have that has both mode to test. A monitor doesn't seem to show any difference in garphic.

btw, god of war seems to work better in normal mode because I got a small part chop off during the new game FVM with progressive mode. Also, using 2x scaling with Suikoden 4, same result.

you mean you cant use interlacing modes with this? also yeah its sharper but the cost of 5 fps is allot. by enabling the progressive mode you saw any difference in cpu usage or the gpu usage? which one it hits?

Yes you can use the interlacing settings, you just don't need to (unless you want to create the shaking or the blurring that is) Tongue

In normal mode, you can create shaking by choosing some interlacing settings, but you can't do it with progressive mode, for Suikoden 4 anyway. Well, this is pretty much the same as what shadow lady says.

The overall usage of both cpu and gpu seem to be heavier in progressive. I tested it normal cpu frame limiting, the fps changes too quickly and varies by a lot, too hard to tell.

so its good for people that have good pc and/or playing games that are not so hard to emulate and only if the mode doesnt create any garbage or glitches

My conclusion or rather opinion applies to only games that I have tested. In fact, Shadow of the Colossus and Suikoden 4 already have other graphical problems such as over bright and shadow in r1888( not sure if it has been fixed yet). The mode just doesn't create extra grabage or glitches, for the first 10 seconds or so of both games anyway.

Since this is going a bit off, in case op missed the answer, in respond to his question, triangle +x is not going to do the magic trick activiting progressive mode for games that do not support it. Games that do should have the option that let you choose.

what about performance then? seen any difference? (probably slowdown as shadow lady said in the game he/she used)

I got around 41ish fps using interlacing mode and progressive mode in this particular scene using 4x scaling.

Thanks, CKL, I understand now.

Also, with this talk of additional FPS...I wouldn't benefit from this because I have the frame limiter on that keeps it at 60, otherwise it would be too high. Every once in a while it gets down to like 50 in some rare spots.
