Question about support!

Could PCSX2 support for the PSP?
OR
PCSX2 run PSP games?

No. The two devices are mostly unrelated in their inner workings. It's like saying "Could SNES emu also emulate PSP?" -- sure, but it'd make no sense really from a technical perspective. Wink

But it would be easy Emulator for PSP now as the advanced emulator?

Wow, this is awkward.....

The 2 devices are completely different. If they started a PSP project, they'd have to start from scratch.

The PS2 and PSP are nothing alike... The PCSX2 team would have to basically make a whole new emulator from scratch... which would completely distract them from PS2 emulation which is still a long way from being perfect. Instead of trying to get PCSX2 to play PSP games... why not just go find a PSP emulator that's being worked on? I hear it can even play a few games now albeit slowly and the compatibility list is quite low.

Admittedly PSP and PS2 aren't entirely different, but the reusable code is related to the MIPS core cpu only, and is only part of it, at that. So like... maybe 10% of the core emulation would be "common code." That's hardly enough to make it worth while to even bothering sharing the code, really.

Isn't the psp closer to the playstation one anyway? Tongue2

I heard that the psp is a lot like the n64 and that is how it can emulate the 64.

Maybe for a carefully defined value of "a lot". Unless the systems were designed to be similar, they won't be similar in the ways that count to re-use any significant amount of emulation code to make the job easier.

It's like saying a banana and pineapple are a lot alike because they have finite volume and a closed geometry; technically true but completely useless to you.

That being said, getting N64 emu running (well) on the PSP would be awesome Laugh But if it's done it'll be through hard work and skill, similarities on the systems not required.

Eh, PSP and N64 have little in common. Different CPUs, different GPUs, totally unrelated BIOS design. I think the only reason an N64 game would emulate well on a PSP is because, frankly, N64 games should be able to be emulated on almost anything these days. If the target system in question has a texture mapping GPU, the N64 is probably easier to emulate than a SNES, for example -- and the PSP has no trouble emulating that either. Wink
