Questions about CPU/GPUs and running PCSX2 at high graphical settings

There are several games that struggle on decent i5 CPUs (SotC looking at you) and, as mentioned, they have a higher STP than yours. You could play KH2 and Persona 3 FES on a [email protected], that doesn't mean that's a good system just because your games haven't slowed you down.

Let me get you some screen shots

Give me around 1-2 hours

60fps with vsync Zone of Enders
Motherboard: SABERTOOTH 990FX/GEN3 R2.0
CPU: AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core 3.5GHz @ 4.8ghz 1.41 v
GPU: MSI GTX 970 GAMING 4G GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V
Ram: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 @ 1866

I still got some slowdowns in many games with a 2500k 5ghz + gtx980 Tongue2
And for all the emulators intel > amd, the i3 may perform better than a fx6.
i5 2500k@4,9ghz / Gtx980 Msi Gaming / 2x SSD Samsung 840pro 256gb / Acer Predator 24" G-sync
Corsair K95 RGB / Logitech G502 Proteus Core / Bose Companion 2 Serie III

In the case of VP2 though; Valkyrie Profile 2 has random slowdowns even on an i5-4670k, which is far better than the FX6300. So I find it a bit hard to believe you would have a constant 60 FPS in that game, in the heavy graphic areas with loads of action going on. Especially on resolutions higher than native.
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 @ 3.60~4.20 GHz | Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2x16GB) DDR4-3200
MSI GeForce GTX 1660 Super @ 6 GB | Samsung 980 1TB | Windows 10 Pro x64 (22H2)

I would suggest getting the i5 over the fx-8350 for pcsx2.
We're supposed to be working as a team, if we aren't helping and suggesting things to each other, we aren't working as a team.

I think a pattern is emerging...

I think this was the best part of it all. An FX6300 being enough for PS3 emulation, lol.

Didn't even notice that part. Would be pretty sweet if that was possible, cheaper to make a pc to emulate ps3 than buy it. Lmao

Maybe in software mode? 6x res with 16x filtering constant 60fps that is both in opengl hardware and directx on both linux and windows though of course opengl for linux I have not tested software mode... Very odd that your experiancing slowdowns unless of course your build is having trouble in other areas... infact without frame limiting and vsync I get around 110 - 120 fps in when not in a battle or in menus i get 200+ fps
