Quick Crossfire Question
#1
I know in pcsx2 requirements thread it says that emulator does not support Crossfire or SLI on its own, but i just wanted to know if there's any way to make pcsx2 use Crossfire setup? or at least if this feature will be implemented into emulator any time soon.

I can't give you the "official" word, but it seems I've read that there are no current plans to do so. If you think about it, there's really no need to gain better GPU performance. A single powerful card can already do wonders for PCSX2's graphical capabilities.

Now, if we could "Crossfire" or "SLI" a couple CPUs... LOL

Well for starters they should really hurry and reprogram pcsx2 to use all cores on quads because i had to overclock my i7 to run games perfectly, because it only uses 2 cores. And i do run my ps2 games in 1080p on hd5770, but i just wanted to know, since i have dual hd5770 setup.

Well thats not gonna happen. The devs have said several times that it would do little in terms of speed and would take very long to actually do, not to mention the bugs it would bring. It would set back pcsx2 development a long time. That time is better spent improving the compatability and overall performance of pcsx2 imo. I would think the devs agree.

I know I do! (Agree, that is)

And to "hurry" the devs is uncool. They should do this when they feel like it, and we should appreciate that A LOT. Wink

pcsx2 is the best emulator out there and i respect and admire what developers do to make pcsx2 better and better, i didnt mean anything harsh by saying that they should "hurry", but what else could improve pcsx2 speed as much as adding support for two more cores?

While I have no technical knowlage on this stuff, the developers have said quad support would only add a minor speedup. Would it be worth a minor speedup to delay the development of pcsx2, when normal development might add the same speedup and better compatability. And still the speed issue will eventually solve itself with better hardware anyway.

there is really no need for better hardware, if pcsx2 is not making full use of the hardware that we have now . And yet i just dont see what else developers can do to make emulator run perfect on regular cpus (dual cores 2.4ghz-3.0ghz), most pc games run perfect on mid range cpus like that.

it depends in which direction hardware evolves.
If the future intends to multiply CPUs/GPUs/cores without increasing clockspeed, then, it'll be long before pcsx2 has his "perfect machine to run on"

speed isn't the main objective of pcsx2.
accuracy is.

when the emulator is close to perfect with most games (no glitches, no crashes, every game running perfect), I guess devs will think about speed.
but I'm pretty sure common hardware will be powerful enough when this time comes. Wink

sigh... regular cpu on pc games is different then on pcsx2 because it is NOT THE SAME!

you cant compair apples with pears.
