Hi! I don't know how much this will help you out particularly, but the game runs much faster (benefits both EE and GS) with the speedhack "VU Cycle Stealing" set to 3 (Went from 16 FPS to 60). Also, the graphics are perfect on software rendering (press F9 while in game or change it yourself in the video settings). I get high FPS' (50-60) even though my CPU's graphics clocks are fairly low.

Edit: If you are still lagging, EE Cyclerate will also help, although I haven't tested the game with these speedhacks...

Edit: Oh, and expect major slowdowns with VU Cycle Stealing. This is what I am getting.
