Really strange error with Odin Sphere...
#1
Been playing through the game today, and I came to the first "major" boss, Belial. I'm using ZeroGS and everything's worked wonderfully so far. At a random point during the battle, this error hits. Everything turns into geometric shapes and the game works fine for about 5 seconds, then stutters, then something else will happen. Either the game will freeze, the game will close, the whole computer will freeze, or the weirdest one yet, static-y stuff will appear all over my monitor and remain there even after the emulator closes until I restart the computer. I have both a save state and a memory card save right before the boss fight and some form of this error always happens here, I have tested it 15 times. It always kicks in at a random time within the first 30 seconds of the boss fight and as described has various results. I would try to take a screenshot but my computer freezes 95% of the time the error happens. This continues with all settings of speedhacks. Has anyone else experienced this? Note: this is ONLY on ZeroGS, GSDX works on this boss fight but is slow, as is normal for Odin Sphere.

Edit: When the error occurs, this is what is displayed in the console, if it means anything:

I played through the game with GSDX 10 hardware just fine, just gotta deal with the bit of lag you may sometimes get. If I recall, it never went below 50fps, definitly didn't have anything below 40fps if I am wrong.

Hmm, yeah at lowest GSDX goes to 45 fps (which is during that boss fight) though I really hate slowdown of any kind. Oh well, unless anyone has a better idea looks like that's my best option.

There is a better option using GSdx. Just set the custom frameskip at [60, 9999, 1, 1]. The game will run just fine and you not gonna notice any slow. And you probaly will not notice that the game is running at 30fps and not 60fps because it's all in 2D. I hope it helps you.Happy

Oddly enough, this works. I usually hate frameskip but on a game like this it doesn't really matter. It isn't noticeably slow or anything. Thank you rodiablo!
