Removal of Custom resolution from GSdx

I'd say you should remove custom res and add 0.75x and 1.5x native, maybe 2.5x, if that doesn't cause issues compared to "normal" multipliers

ahh, yes. you're right, the condition checks for disabled custom resolution when it was being forced on by some snowblind games. I remember that now

I guess the situation is quite messy then, time to clean up. maybe we could add either 0.5X(or)0.75X native as willkuer suggested ?

That still has all of the issues mentioned. It would pointless to remove custom resolutions and add presets for resolutions that aren't multiples of the native res.

If custom resolutions are to be removed, can higher native scaling factors be added?

8x Native (or even higher) would be useful for games with low native resolutions (and games which seem to draw the 3D scene at a lower resolution than the UI, e.g. Transformers).

You can use the ie 3x or 4x with widescreen patches and it could only look better, not worse.

It doesn't work like you said. Custom resolution doesn't change the apsect ratio, if the game use 4:3 it will remains 4:3, others game use 16:7, others 1:1. Custom resolution set the maximum size of the RT. For example in native resolution, the buffer is set to 1280x1024. Game will likely uses only 1/4 of the pixels remaining will be useless.

Except snowblind game native is around 640x480, serious it is a VGA resolution. It is the resolution of computer in 1990! Maybe we can add an userhack to only create a RT of 640x512 instead of 1280x1024. It would reduce memory size requirement, I don't think a GPU can't render into a 640x480.

Why don't we just add a big red warning when someone chooses a custom resolution? PCSX2 has options all over the place which can break compatibility for some gain or another, we can keep the custom res as well, and we don't have to try too hard to fix issues which only happen with custom resolution.

Could you add descriptors to the end of the names, such as "2x scaling (720p)" similar to how Dolphin does it.

Not really cos 2x can be different with different games, some games it will be 640x480 (1280x960) others it might be 512x448 (1024x896) and so forth.
