Resolved: [Bug Report] Dark Cloud 2 [NTSC]
#11
Sorry to bump this old thread but I've encounter the problem too.

I've tested it using:

pcsx2 0.9.6
gsdx 1873(msvc 15.00, SSE41) 0.1.15
= CRASH when inventing

pcsx2 0.9.6
gsdx 890 (mvsc 15.00 SSE14) 0.1.14
= NO CRASH when inventing

pcsx beta r1888
gsdx 1873(msvc 15.00, SSE41) 0.1.15
= CRASH when inventing

pcsx beta r1888
gsdx 890 (mvsc 15.00 SSE14) 0.1.14
= NO CRASH when inventing

Concluding that it is the plug-in that causes the crash.

Note that it ONLY CRASHES when your inventing something feasible (i.e. energy pack for the robot at the start of the game)

Are there anymore versions of gsdx in between those two that i've tested? I'd be glad to test them out if it means that the bug could get fixed earlier Laugh

Great review, capdase! Btw, the newest revisions showed some missing effects in the game. The robot eyes now are displaying a light, I don` remeber that to be available before.

There are some graphical bugs that I encounter but it's not major to the point that i get distracted or anything. Do you know where i can download (if there are any) versions of the gsdx plug-in inbetween those two that I've tested? Willing to test it out, have lots of time to spare! lol!

After testing for about an hour or so. Found out that revision 1466 is the culprit. 1451 doesn't crash when inventing but 1466 always crashes.

Hey heatblazer, if you're still playing Dark Cloud 2, might I suggest downloading the 1451 plugin and use that when running DC2. Don't see any difference between that and the latest beta plug-in in terms of fps. Invented 3x now with no crashes. Wink

Will double check to confirm, thanks for the report.

Not sure if this is known or not, but trying to take a picture of the moon/sun doesn't count as an "Idea" while using GSdx in DX9 or DX11, but works in OpenGL or Software mode.

Version 20160812155213
Core i7 920 D0 @ 3.8GHz
Asus P6T Deluxe v2
G.SKILL 12GB PC3 12800

EVGA GeForce GT 430 1GB
OCZ GameXStream 850W
Windows 7 Home Premium x64
Cooler Master HAF 932

Does it work with Depth Emulation disabled in OpenGL Hardware mode(Enable HW Hacks, go to Configure Hacks and enable "Disable Depth Emulation")?

And is the original bug(from the first post of this thread) still active or has that been solved?

No invention crashing or other major issues like that.

Yup, Depth Emulation seems to be the issue. Wasn't working when I started the game disabled, worked after enabling.

Also minor issue with the water rendering incorrectly, looks normal in software mode changing to hardware mode causes the water to turn milky white/silvery over about 3 seconds on DX11/OGL
