Soul Calibur 2 and 3 both need VU clamping mode to fix respawn issues, going out of stage or the stage showing completely black.

As for stages appearing darker that has been fixed on the latest git. This is caused because the game needs depth emulation to render shadows properly. If disabled or on Direct3D the shadows will instead darken the whole stage.
OpenGL renders shadows properly with depth.
Direct3D will skip the effect with CRC hack.
