Resolved: [Bug] Star Ocean 3: Random zooming/glitching

We tried to fix it - it's on Nvidia's end and they won't work with us who make an "illegal software" as they call it, the only thing we can do we did(Nvidia hack) and honestly this is the first I've heard of it not working.

Damn, well, I've pretty much lost all hope of it ever working then....maybe it's just my end that it's not working on. Does it work on your end? Once again, I've filed another useless report and pissed people off Sad

I give up, on nVidia ever fixing this regression or the hack ever working again. Sorry, but I just don't know how to be positive, and having to roll back just for one game.....yeah. Dammit all... Excuse me while I headdesk. PCSX2 will never get the nVidia hack working with 344.11, and I'm sure the only one it's happening to.

I can't test it, my card is AMD and the problem is only in nVidia.

It's somewhat possible that this is an unrelated issue though. Try 1.3.0 from buildbot and see if you have luck.

I admit, that's one of the things I haven't tried yet, so, I'll give it a whirl. Once again, I have to apologize for my foolishness in making this bug "report". Will let you know.

Edit: 1.3.0, uh, I don't see them http://buildbot.orphis.net/pcsx2/index.php at all, just 1.2.1 - xxxx but nothing on 1.3.0

Edit: Yup, tried the 1.3.0 GIT, nada, nothing, nil. Still exists. And it's weird, on an unrelated note, the memory card doesn't show the save I made 6 hours in when I load it on 1.3.0 GIT. However, I use a memory card manager, and it's still there. Odd.

Sorry about the necro-thread but this problem has been driving me bat-sh*t-crazy for almost the first whole disc of Star Ocean and nothing I could find online addressed it except this thread.

Temporary solution: switch video plugin to DX9.

Neither the nvidia hack or Tri-ace hack fixes it either. Dx11 is broken on nvidia for Star Ocean 3.

My PC:

i5-4670K @ 4.2ghz
GTX 780 ti @ 1200mhz
Asrock z87 Extreme4
16gb DDR3
Creative X-Fi titanium HD

Edit: never mind. I fixed it. I didn't have "hardware hacks" checked in the DX11 plugin menu so the nVidia fix wouldn't enable. Now it's running silky smooth 60fps @ 6x upscaled, progressive enabled, deinterlacing off, texture filtering checked, 16xAF, 4xMSAA, multithreaded enabled, nVidia hack. And the game is sharp and looks 100x better than at native 640x448 or whatever it is.

I'm playing Star Ocean 3 right now on an Nvidia card undder DX11 with the Nvidia hack and I haven't seen this yet.

Yeah, it's weird, it just seemed to have gone away, I only saw it for a bit then never happened again.

Update: I added an update to my previous comment. It was due to the most common cause of computer problems. User error.

I'm curious - did you try to make a minimal reproduction of the issue and send it to nvidia as-is, so they wouldn't discriminate?
Or was that too difficult to do?

They wanted a reproduction on a PC game if they were to fix it, and we couldn't give them that because no one could make it happen in a PC game.
