Resolved: r3113 official beta FFXII GSDX crash
#1
Using the latest beta r3113 / 0.9.7, FFXII fails to load entirely when using GSDX plugin. it works using zeroGS.

PC specs are Windows XP Pro SP3 32bit, Intel Core2 Duo E6750 @ 2.66GHz SSSE3, 2 GB crucial ballistix DDR2 1066, EVGA NVidia GeForce 8800GT 512mb.

GSDX settings are D3D internal res 1680x1050. texture filtering on, no AA.

when I use iso selector and then go to start cdvd plugin it will boot system successfully, but before showing any graphics pcsx2 will just close.

also I'm not using any speed hacks.

please help ;_;

it's your resolution, use native and upscale gradually till you find what works. Just checked myself, runs fine on 1024x1024, but once I loaded with yours it crashed

edit: 1680x1680 works fine too

why thank you, it's a shame resolution can't be my native in quite a few games without errors so far.

so should I put the exact pixel value in the internal res box, or should I leave that blank and use something like 3x on the scaling drop down menu?

also, is the default ps2 resolution is 256x256, so it's multiples of that?

usually, yes. unless you run native, which is NOT 256x256 (it's actually 512 x 448 on FF12) powers of 2 are always tricky, I personally would just recommend squaring them off. (512 x512, 1024x1024, etc.)

There is no point using your monitor's native resolution as the internal resolution since it does not affect window size or anything. You can just use the scaler to also prevent scaling bugs and always have multiples of the internal resolution of the game you run
