Running PCSX2 with this setup...
#1
Hello,

I have the following system:

AMD Athlon64 X2 Dualcore 5200+ 2.61Ghz
2Gb Ram
Geforce 7900GS 256Mb

I can run PS2 games but not that well. Final Fantasy XII especially lags throughout cutscenes and has trouble with lots of sprites.

If I was going to upgrade my system would it be more helpful to upgrade the graphics card and if so what kind of card would I need to make games play and look good?

Thanks Laugh

It looks like your cpu is sufficient, so yes, your graphics card is probably where the bottleneck is. Now, before I make any suggestions, I need to know: How much are you willing to spend?

Biggrin That's a good question.

I was thinking around £50 but if spending a few quid over that would make a significant difference I would consider it...

This might be what you are looking for. The 9600gt is known to work quite well with pcsx2. Unfortunately you will need to buy the card elsewhere as newegg.com does not ship to the UK.

You can try getting the latest PCSX2 beta enable some speedhacks on it specially "VU Cycle stealing" set to slight or moderate, and click the "native" checkbox in GSdx.
