SCP DS3 Service not working on recently bought laptop
#1
I'm currently setting up my recently bought laptop (HP Beats Special Edition 15-p030nr), but I can't seem to install the SCP DS3 Service. The operating system is Windows 10 Pro.
Following this tutorial, I've installed the latest Xbox 360 controller drivers, already had .NET framework, Direct X and Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable, and restarted the computer as instructed. I installed the SCP DS3 files and moved it to Program Files, and named it as instructed. The problem comes when I try to install on ScpDriver. With the Dualshock 3 plugged in via USB, I try to install (without a Bluetooth Driver) and it would say it has succeeded without installing anything.

I also tried it with Force Install, and the difference is it installs the Bus Driver and the DS3 USB Driver with the controller left unusable.

My old laptop (HP Pavilion g4) however, installs without any issue.

Here's a side-by-side of viewing Devices of my old PC (with the SCP DS3 Driver installed) vs. my new PC (after trying to force install the driver)

Even after many re-installations of the Xbox 360 drivers, restarting the computer and even updating the SCP DS3 Service to the latest version, I wasn't able to install the drivers in order for the Dualshock 3 to work on my PC.
Also to note: I've installed the SCP DS3 drivers on my old PC as far as several months ago (meaning it was on Windows 8.1 at the time).
May you please leave suggestions to fix this problem?

Thank you for reading.

if i remember correctly, the original SCP isn't compatible with Win10, so it's probable that Motioninjoy isn't too.
I suggest you to switch to ScpToolkit

I've heard from some people that the original SCP does indeed work on Windows 10, and even my old PC can uninstall and reinstall the drivers properly on Windows 10.
Anyways, I'll try the ScpToolkit to see if it works. Thanks!

The ScpToolkit doesn't work either.

The difference, however, is that it shows that an error occurred in the middle of the installation
Here are the install notes (DS3 Driver and Configure Service checked):

At this point, I'm pretty sure there's a setting on .NET that prevents the SCP drivers from installing properly. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Looks like you haven't properly unblocked the archive since the error message suggests the system tried to load a file from a network location which .NET refuses for security reasons.

Something as stupid as running in compatibility mode doesn't work? Or explicit administrator rights?

The archive? I'm not understanding, you mean the zip folder that came with the files?
I extracted the bin folder onto the desktop, if that helps with anything.

Nope.
I always run the ScpDriver as administrator and I've tried compatibility mode, none worked.

right click on scpservice.exe, click properties, then click unblock. Should solve your problems.
