SOCOM 2 on nightly build 1.7.XXXX
#1
Good evening all,

I just decided to try out the new nightly build, moving across from 1.60 and thought I'd try out SOCOM 2, as that was running pretty much flawlessly on 1.60.

Unfortunately 1.7 seems determined to run SOCOM 2 at almost exactly half speed with "Game" FPS around 15-16 and "Video" around the 30 mark. The only option that seems capable of running it at a playable FPS is software mode.

With 1.60 being able to run it well, I can't see how it would be the hardware. (i7 8700k, 3070, 32GB DDR4)

Has anyone else had this issue transitioning across?

I've tried to search for the emulog for 1.7 but I can only find the 1.60 log, so if someone needs this to help, could they kindly point me in the right direction? EDIT : Uploaded.

Cheers,

Sawyer

I'll have to give this game a try in 1.6, I tried it in an earlier 1.7 build from around Jan or Feb and it has this weird slowdown bug where the game drops from fullspeed to anywhere from 50-60% speed for seemingly no reason. You could literally just stand still and not move the camera and this would happen. Thing is, if you pause the game, and then unpause it, magically the slowdown goes away completely, until it returns later lol.

My CPU is i5-11600k and the GPU is GTX 1080 so no real reason for this to happen besides it being a bug. My guess is that the game has some funky GS stuff happening that our modern hardware is having a seizure trying to handle properly or something. Would be nice to play this game again but the random slowdowns ruin it.
