(SOLVED) Corrupt BIOS when dumping from my PS2 Slim SPCH77004 PAL V15 (v2.20)
#1
Hello,

Im using this BIOS for years now and realized now that it is corrupt. I found it out, when I saw a video on Youtube with an European v2.00 BIOS on PCSX2 config.

My BIOS is mentioned in PCSX2 as "Japan v02.20(10/02/2006) Console"
But it should be: "Europe v02.20(10/02/2006) Console"

It begins with problems in executing BIOS by entering the Configuration-menu in PCSX2. To enter smth. you need normally the "x"-butto, but I have to push "o" and the fonts are screwed up, where should be written: "Version" & "Enter"

Second problem is, that I can't run games without the "Enable Skip BIOS-Hack" setting. It just shows me the golden PS2 Disc in browser and when I click it, the screen goes black (no PS2-Logo!!!) and returns to browser with the golden PS2-disk again.

Now WHY Im writing this:

With this BIOS I cant start "ICO" -> The screen remains black, when I start the game. But I know that it works with an another BIOS, where all mentioned problems dont exist!!!

I dumped it already 3 times. 2x over usb-dumper and 1x over ethernet. Its always the same problem. Is there a special BIOS-Dumper out here? Becuase 90% of all BIOSDump-Utils dont work with PS2 slim.

It should be: SCPH-77004_BIOS_V15_PAL_220.*

But its SCPH-77004_BIOS_VX_PAL_220.*

My bios is also recognized in pcsx2 as Japan 2.20 (10/2/2006).
Although its named "SCPH-77006_BIOS_VX_HK _220".

It seems to me your ps2 is the last pal model. Those usb methods should work quite well with a ps2slim since mine is also a slim type. Did you use ulaunchelf?

This is the guide I used

Yes, I did use uLaunchELF to start the Application.

I also tried PS2Link v1.46, but that does not work atm. Donno, maybe its because of Win7. (Get TLB-Errors on PS2 when I start Usbdump and it loads infinite the ELF-File when I use BIOSDump over Ethernet w/ or w/o arguments. (It start with 750000KB/sExcl and it just counts down to zero)

However,"cdfs:/mass/mc0/1:" Those are the boot methods I tried. (My chip allows me to boot from any device)

@mackoyski: Can you start a game without skipping BIOS? And are you using "x" or "o" button to accept things?

I FOUND IT OUT!!!!

The problem was the *.bin file. It was (and is) false dumped and I donno why. This was always created by PCSX2. And this file stores some important information that is used to boot the disc. Im happy nowLaugh Works like a charm

I wont tell you how I did it and do NOT ask.

That file doesnt get dumped as usual....even on my case. Though it really never prevented me from booting the games properly.
Nevertheless, its good to hear that you were able to sort it out.
