[SOLVED] copying memcards to another device
#1
I checked the FAQ and a few other places here, did not seem much info - so real quick:

I copied my memcard to a laptop - that went well, and all is good
copied same memcard(s) to my tower, not so good, game shows empty.

1. can you save the memcard location to another folder other than documents/pcsx/memcard ?
2. why are they coming up empty after the copy?
3. I have the same issue with the sstate. the tower cannot see them.

STEPS ALREADY TAKEN:
1. changed folders in "config->plugin/BIOS cannot find one to change the location of the memcards (CLI maybe??)
2. all default boxes are UNCHECKED to it should be using the folders I provided.

normally not an issue, however, I have 30 some hours, really hate to start over. I played it on my laptop, and it is still saving. I am taking those *.ps2 memcards and moving them to the tower, but it still shows empty. I tried the new location, and i put them in the documents->pcsx2->memcards folder

What am I doing wrong?

thanks guys

ps
supurb app!!!
is there a .git or .svn that I can link up to and get updates as they come?

In your tower, where the pcsx2.exe is,do you have a file named portable.
If yes, then that means you are using the portable version there and pcsx2 look for the memory cards and the save states in the pcsx2 directory, not in Documents\PCSX2

And for the other question
https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2/commits/master

Hi thanks for the prompt reply, the answer is no, it is not portable it's the Standalone. Directly from the website.

What makes this strange is the original copy came from the tower to pass on to the laptop. When I came back from vacation I wanted to copy of the memcards back to the tower. However there always blank when I do that.

To change memory card location, you need to go to config->memory cards. Wink

O der, lemme see it at is updated.
And even so I still have the new copy in the documents->pcsx->memcards folder as well
#6
I also forgot to mention that I did download a piece of software that can read the memory cards. The data is still there along with some of the other games I saved. But for some reason the emulator sees it as blank

Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.

Please make sure to enclose your emulog in code tags like so (remove the empty space on the closing code tag!):
[code]
Pasted emulog goes here
[ /code]
CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
Mobo : Asus PRIME B450-PLUS

Yes, quite familiar with the code tags - wish more people would use things like "spoiler" tags so the post is not flooded on more larger text files LOL

I think I see an issue with the plugins folder, seems to be reading an older setup I had. what do you think

O, I had to exit out of the system for it to write to the log, here is the after. (still no data)

ok, I have what I think just might be a dumb ??

I just realized on my tower I have the newer pcsx2: 1.5

laptop (that I have been pulling the saves from: 1.4

if that makes a diff, did I miss some instructions on how to correct?

that is the only diff I see so far. Laptop still holds it's save
