Sandy Bridge performance in PCSX2 ?

With the new processors out I would like to see how they perform in PCSX2.

my guess would be that they are excellent for pcsx2, because pcsx2 needs high clocks and doesn't use all those threads on 1366 i7's, i would say that 2500k stock clocks will outperform i7 920,930,940,950 at stock clocks in pcsx2 application. All thou Intel made it pretty clear that 1366 is still the top performance choice and 2500k/2600k are upgrades over 1156, but i would say pcsx2 is an exception.

I'm also interested in results. Just got to wait a while.
For now expect 10% faster than an i5 at the same clocks.

I don't recall ever getting below 60fps even on a stock 920 except for those few problem games (MGS3, VP2, etc)... Maybe with a 5ghz sandy OC you can finally hit 60fps in them but you'll still just be playing in software mode Tongue That said, I wouldn't spend the extra dough if you're only interesting in gaming. Spend that cash on a new card

Hmm, so no one wants to be the guinea pig? I'm planning to get Sandy but I'd like to wait until the Z68 chipset comes out. I'm not sure if I can resist temptation that long, though. If the Gigabyte or Asus M-ITX gets released, I might just forgo waiting. Alas, they probably won't overclock at all (H67 chipset).

im not switching from 1366 to 1155, that wouldn't make seance, for people who are on 1156 or 775 it would make a difference, but if i had high clocked 1156 cpu i would still wait since there plenty for gaming right now.

I'm not really upgrading per se. I just want to build a new PC. It's been a few months since I specced out and built a rig so I'm having withdrawal symptoms. Tongue2

If anyone with these new CPUs can get a rock solid 60fps with NO slowdowns/frame drops even when there are a lot of cars on the track in Ridge Racer V, I will upgrade from Core i7 950 to Sunday Bridge!

I hope the results without overclocking will be good since I never overclocked anything (I'm not a specialist). I remember reading SB was easy to overclock though... I don't want high end performances but 4 GHz instead of 3.8 would be good...

I wait for some opinions but I have to upgrade my PC bought in 2007, mainly for PCSX2 and Dolphin.

You i7 users don't have any reason to upgrade already. You'll gain or loose a couple %, depending on the app.
Now if your machine is more like from 2007 or earlier, that's when it starts to make sense Wink
