Save states and update

Hello
Today I updated PCSX2 from 1.4 stable to 1.6 stable.
But my save sates seems to be lost.
When I try to load the files, it's written tht it's corrupted.
Any solution please ?

Savestates are not transferrable between versions, you need to save your games properly ingame then you can use your memory cards with a new version

Load from memcard.
Save states arent cross version compatible

So if I reinstall a portable version of 1.4, I load my save state then save to the memory card, I can use the memory card file in 1.6 to restore my save.
Is that right ?
