Screen shake
#1
I downloaded PSX2 specifically to play a copy of Disgaea 2 that I have lying around. After some tinkering, and making an .mds of it, I got it running. Only problem is, the screen shakes like nothing I've ever seen, I actually get motion sick. I'm using the default video plugin, and nothing I do seems to work. I tried engaging Vsync, interlacing, all kinds of things, nothing seems to work. Any thoughts?

hmm strange, changing the interlace option should've fixed it Smile

some of the modes are better than others, but the only one that actually "fixes" it cuts the framerate in half, which, considering even with my 9800GT I can't get 120 FPS, is a problem.

Are you playing under DX9 or DX10?

"9800GT I can't get 120 FPS" - didn't get that part?

why would you need 120FPS? you don't really need that high of FPS..
setup:
Intel E2180 @ 2.67Ghz
Nvidia GeForce 9600GT @ 730/1110/1785
1x2 GB Patriot LLK 800Mhz 4-4-4-10

The interlacing mode I use to play Disgaea 2 is "Bob tff". Here's the secret: change the internal resolution from native to something like 1280x872 or 1280x864. Vary the second number a bit until you get the last of the interlacing shudder to go away (the best value will depend on if you have the PAL or NTSC version of Disgaea 2, but yea there are some values in the 750-900 ranges usually seems to work best).

It'll never be perfect but it'll be more than playable. And the drawback of using non-native resolutions (some artifact pixels on some text) should be well outweighed by reduced flicker and improved visual quality in all other areas of the game.

DX9, Vista sucks.

What I was saying is, the only interlacing that works cuts my framerate in half, in order for it to run at 60 FPS, I would have to pull 120 FPS before the halving... okay, so it doesn't really work that way, but you get the idea.

Dx10 isn't only on Vista you know (it's on Windows 7 also)

In my experience, people that hate on Vista have never actually used it...
