The only non-default settings I know of is the controller configuration.
I have no midea of the settings and what they do, so please excuse any stupidity, if it occurs

1st, enable mipmapping in gsdx
2nd, set ee cycle rate speedhack to -1
3rd try over clocking your CPU to 4ghz if you have a good cooler.

-to enable mipmapping: click on "config" tab, then on video(gs), click on "plugin settings". a window will appear and you will see the mipmapping options on the bottom, set it to "Basic(fast)"
-the ee cycle rate: config--->emulation setting--->speedhacks tab--->the ee cycle rate is on the top left corner, set the cursor to -1
-to overlock your cpu( in my perspective, i don't recommend it for you): check this link

1. I followed your directions to the gsdx9 window. The mipmapping was already selected, however I could not change this option.
2. I fund the setting via your directions and i see the option, but the app does not allow me to change that.
3. I will then not overlock the cpu
