Settings cleared, save state error
#1
I posted before when I was playing FFX that twice during the game I had shut off the console and went to bed, next day I got up to find all my settings were cleared as though I had just installed it, my bios weren't working except the japan one, and my save states were all corrupted...
Once more I'm having that issue this time with Grandia Xtreme... same thing, went to bed last night no issues with the console at all.. went to run it today and everything was cleared and the save state was corrupted..
My question more so is whether it's certain games that are doing it or if I'm doing something that's pissing it off.. I tend to forget to save often so when it happens i lose hours of progress in a game.. any feedback would be appreciated..
Forgot to copy from this most recent time but the message in logs I got when it happened with FFX was:

On startup:
EE/iR5900-32 Recompiler Reset

Savestates tend to get corrupted easily. That's why its recommended to save on memcard and not rely solely on save states.
That said you may have another problem. Do you have another ps2 console ?
CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
Mobo : Asus PRIME B450-PLUS
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
RAM : 16 Go

Nope, only ever used pcsx2.. it wasn't that long ago I downloaded it either.. played other games no problem, it was just ffx and grandia xtreme.. granted i hate both games.. and I do backup my save states oftenly it's just the console settings reset that makes me wonder if i'm doing something wrong.. thank you for your response

then you're likely to get problems whatever you do.
the PS2 console you own is the very first model, and is know to be buggy.

best would be to reproduce the problem :
start pcsx2, change settings, launch a game, quit it, quit pcsx2 and post the emulog.txt content here
CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
Mobo : Asus PRIME B450-PLUS
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070

I'm using 1.4.0 so have the most updated far as I'm aware
(I really hate that it converted half that into smiley faces o.o)
and again it's only once in a while that it does this.. I played suikoden, dark cloud 2, arch the lad, risk, the godfather, atelier iris 1/2/3, Ar Tonelico 1/2.. never a problem with any of them.. it was just ffx and grandia xtreme that caused the issue and there was games in between..
I've seen other issues people have had with different things so I'll just state I don't use cheats, hacks, speed hacks, anything like that.. just run the games as they are.. the only thing I do is switch the speed limiter between normal/turbo with the tab button at different times..
#7
most likely my first hypothesis, then.
Your PS2 model...
CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
Mobo : Asus PRIME B450-PLUS
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
RAM : 16 Go
#8
I downloaded it from the main site.. would you recommend just uninstalling/reinstalling a new version and backing up my sstate/memcards?
#9
nope.
I'm talking about the real PS2 console you extracted the bios from.
since you said you don't have another PS2 console, it means you're stuck with that 1.0 japanese model. which is know to be a buggy one...

sorry for you

Well technically speaking I downloaded the scph10000 bios online, though I do own a ps2 it just was much easier to download them.. with that said, the other bios were working originally for plenty of games.. with that first ffx bug it knocked off my other bios and stuck me with the japan version.. i've tried using other bios but it just crashes and defaults to the japan one.. I've had plenty of playtime on my ps2 physical console but theres certain games that I wanted that were harder to get ahold of or were only released certain places, thus me using the emulator..
