Shadow of the Colossus 60fps possible?
#21
Oh for me then. Well yeah what I said so far and

Games that give me issues?

Xenosaga: A few cutscenes will drop to 55FPS or so, one mech battle was 50% speed. Those particular battles are ridiculously demanding and slow down on almost any rig.

Ratchet and Clank Series: Requires software mode. 3 software threads + EE cycle hack to 3 and I get 57-60FPS most of the time

Burnout 3: Takedown: Some occasional drops to 55, very infrequent drops to 51 or so,

In the latter two cases, yeah a faster processor would help.

I play usually on 3x or 4x.

No I'm not considering upgrading. I built this rig in the last half of 2013 and I'm really poor. This will be my rig for a few years.

4.4 is a somewhat decent OC, most people with FX6300 can go higher than I did and with less voltage. My chip is not a super overclocker. Still 4.4Ghz is very nice performance.

I highly doubt you would be unhappy if you went with the FX6300, especially since it's only $109 and you don't need to upgrade your mobo. As long as your mobo supports AM3+

i have a GA-78LMT-USB3

a budget mobo but im used to oc'ing on it with my phenom so generally know its limits

what is the difference between dx9 hardware (i assume i should be running this), and software? is there any benefit of either (im assuming hardware emulation is preferrable)

thank you for your time.. i know, the price cannot be argued against! i wouldnt need a new gpu would i?

*edit* is a 6350 a better choice?

It fixes many glitches and is overall much more accurate

You have the same mobo as me then. I had an asrock board but it died and I replaced it just a week or so ago with the board you have. You should be able to 3x most games with the 7770, maybe 2x on a few super demanding ones.

The FX6350 is nothing but an overclocked FX 6300 they want you to spend more money on.

Software mode is slower and always native resolution but generally extremely accurate(some games have glitches in hardware mode that only work right in software).

As Nobbs66 said, D3D11 backend will be your best hardware backend. It's generally faster and higher quality than D3d9.

Thanks for info! Question, how well does your cpu run Dolphin... F Zero GX and all?

This result came from my 4770k at stock speed and settings. This intro scene hover about in the 53 fps about 30 seconds in and then drop to 25 fps at the lowest point in the intro (near the last or end of the cut-scene). Overclocking raised that slow 25 fps to 29 and 30 fps Laugh

Mostly good. I don't run too much Dolphin though. F Zero-GX is full speed probably 90% of the time. I'm currently playing Xenoblade Chronicles, and it's having issues staying at full speed. Not sure why as neither my cpu or gpu are anywhere near max.
