Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne Freezing?
#1
Hi,
I've been having an issue with Nocturne where after I boot the emulator, the game will freeze after I finish a battle but before the results screen pops up but the music still continues playing. I've been able to get it to fix (which is how I know it doesn't freeze on subsequent battles) and it seems to fix itself if I just restart the emulator but it's not consistent and now I can't get it to work.
It did this on 1.5.0 and on one of the latest dev versions as well.

Could you post your PCSX2 Gsdx and emulation settings? It might simply be a misconfiguration.

Sure, should I just screenshot or is there a way to put it to text easy?

Screenshots are better as it takes less typing and time. Use the Snipping Tool in windowed capture if the built-in capture tool can't be used for the configuration screens.

There's actually a built-in screenshot mode in the settings screen, there should be a little button with a camera on it, unless they removed that function.

Your accurate blending is way too high. Use none or low at the most. My PC can't handle high because of this: https://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Accurate...S-big-time
Try my suggestion and post its results.

According to the wiki, you are supposed to set it to high to fix a problem
https://wiki.pcsx2.net/Shin_Megami_Tensei:_Nocturne

I don't see anything in those settings that can cause "TBL Miss" which in most cases means "pcsx2 died"
What are your SPU2-X(audio plugin settings),did you tried from your game disk not the image.
You are not using cheats, widescreen patches not save states so the problem cannot be that

Oh maybe it was the wiki where I thought setting that to high was a good idea? Regardless, I tried it and the first time I rebooted pcsx2 it went to black screen after a battle (music still playing) but after multiple retries I can't get it to replicate, it actually goes to the victory screen. I'm hoping that sticks.

If it pops up again, I'll try from the game disk and if that still doesn't work I might just need a new game. I think a friend has a copy so I could ask him.

Thanks you two!

I have another idea. However, I need to know where the game loads. Does it load after the intro or before? If it loads after, then I was thinking of booting the game in High settings, create a savestate right after the intro by pressing F1, exit the game, set a lower blending setting, and boot the game with the savestate everytime after that. This will require precise timing as the state needs to be made before loading.
