Slow down on multiple games

My specs are :
AMD Athlon x2 4800 + Dual core [email protected]
Gforce 8600gt 512 MB
2GB Ram
Windows 7 64Bit
Been testing PCSX2 Beta 2588 and 2828

My problem is that when i get to areas that have quite alot of stuff on screen it will go from a stead 60 FPS to around 40, and in-game FMV's go to like 25 FPS. The game i have been trying are Tales of the Abyss, kingdom hearts 1&2 and DQ8. I was thinking about buying more ram as the minimum suggested for my system is 2GB but will that make any difference to those parts. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Your processor is the one holding you back. The Athlon 64 X2 series are quite weak for PCSX2. It would be ok for 2d games but for better performance in 3d games using an amd core you should at least be using the Athlon II X2 240+ series.
