You could:

Overclock your cpu, see if that helps.

Try using skipdraw to remove some effects that could be very demanding.

Use an older version of the emulator, see if it's any faster.

Run the game from ISO and not directly from the disc if you are not already doing this.

I know. But it can't be that bad.

I mean it came out, when... 2003 / 2004? One of those right? I can't imagine how even the best PC's back then could emulate PS2 games if today's mid-range ones can't.

Look at this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4Q-UNqiNXg
(slightly better CPU, almost identical GPU, half as much RAM)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jv4GGB-V2Kc
(weaker CPU, older but slightly better GPU, half as much RAM)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQdLUaZWjVs
(weaker CPU, weaker GPU's [two], same amount of RAM)

It doesn't run perfectly but it's pretty close, mine doesn't even run half as well :/ Isn't that even a little bit odd?

Out of the question. My CPU isn't great but I can't afford to fry it just yet.

I can try disabling the tire and headlight effects, although...

Could it?

Already am.

Since the gs is limited probably even overclocking the cpu would not help much. One can try to overclock the gpu.

Skipdraw is actually a very good hint. That might work if you are not mainly interested in shadows/sparks...

What you also can try is overclocking cpu and than using the gsdx software mode (With some - maybe 3 - extra rendering threads...). You can try software-emulation in any case.

In the end you might need buying a new gpu and maybe even overclock the cpu...

Edit:
In the links you showed there is not one display of the fps. One can easily capture in less than normal speed and than play it faster than recorded... Btw. Ram is normally not important... Especially not the amount of Ram if it is above a certain threshold.

Nobbs66 told you earlier you can't compare to youtube

"The people that are getting better results are actually just using the internal recorder. When the
captured video is played back it will be at full speed even though the game was running much slower."

Stop comparing to them.

They were all using old versions of pcsx2. The requirements have gone up.

I heard... read, what he said. I just find it hard to believe that they would even be able to record gameplay if their emulation was as bad as mine.

Like I said, I don't expect it to run as well as theirs, but the way it runs now is pretty ridiculous, not even playable.

I'll give Skipdraw a shot.

Really? Well I guess I could try that as well, if it runs on 64bit.

I hate saying this but it looks like you're gonna have to play on your ps2 for now until you upgrade.

0.9.8 and below should help a bit, but they have a lot more bugs.

Nope, DUB Edition Remix only runs on 1.0.0 or higher. I tried it though... I didn't think this was possible but it actually runs worse :/

Yeah let me just dig every single bit of it out of the trash and put it back together Tongue

I asked a friend to try and run it later today. His PC is slightly weaker than mine, we'll see if I'm just paranoid and need a new computer or there's really something wrong.

Thanks for the help guys.

EDIT: Skipdraw seemed to make it run somewhat faster, though I'm probably just imagining things by now (ugh). Ether way I set it to 100 and there's hardly any change.
