Slow performance on i5 450m
#1
Whats up all, I have a Toshiba Satellite a665, with a intel i5 450m which has 2 cores and supports 4 threads. The base clock speed is 2.40 ghz, and 2.60 in turbo mode. I've messed around with the setting for a while and can't really get the performance any higher than 20 fps in game. Are there any tips out there for this cpu?Blink

I have version 9.7.3113 svn, my cofig is default except for the speed hacks which are all checked, EE cycle rate and VU cycle stealing are set to max. For the plugins I used zeroGS 0.97, i've notice a significant decrease in frame rate when using Gsdx 3068 msvc sse41 0.1.14. and the screen also flickers. The games I tried are Battle Stadium D.O.N and have got around 20 FPS in game, Breath of Fire 5 was about the same but there was some lag in some places. I have also tried DBZ BT3 and it runs about 11-15 fps.

Do you really think so? That would probably explain the screen flickering when I play DBZ. But I thought the lag would be more of a cpu problem.

The problem isn't your gpu, if you've got the nvidia 3d thing you need to turn off the 3d vision completely by disabling it in the control panel. It's a common problem as far as I understand. I have an intel 4500 and I'm playing FF12, FFX, and such games full speed with a 2.6 core 2 duo.

310m? thats really the worst of the 3xxm series (and mobile series are like in huge gap from desktop cards). only native resolution can save you for some not demanding games... his cpu is ok for some games like final fantasy kingdom hearts etc

hmmm. I guess I was using the wrong thing. I was using GSdx Hardware mode and had a lot of lag. Now its running at 50 fps for some games. Biggrin The only games that seems to really lag are DBZ BT3 and Shadow Of Colossus, which runs at an average of 30 fps. I think i may have to over clock it a little.
