Overclocking would definitely benefit. you should be able to get that bad boy to at least 3.4Ghz safely. MY i7 920 runs at 2.66Ghz stock and i have it running at 3.8Ghz, however i have a reasonable cooling solution

Buying a new fan would really be not expensive in comparison to a new cpu. So even if you hit the limit with the turbo-clock speed i would just buy a new fan. And if your mainboard provides some presets you can easily play around...

If you do overclock, turn off the turbo, it will break the overclock. You can leave speedstep on (i have), but turbo is a no no

I tried overclocking to 3.2GHz and it didn't seem to make any difference. It still doesn't make much sense to me that Windows XP machines with 1GB RAM and much lower specs than me run games like Tekken flawlessly whereas they play fairly slowly for me - Oh well! I'll just have to find a second-hand PS2 and somehow rig it up to my PC. Thanks all for the help anyway!

Pcsx2 doesn't use much RAM, so 1Gb or 8 Gb would be the same.
Now, it depends on what you call "lower specs"... They could seem lower for pc games but finally be better for emulation...

An excellent CPU and a PCI Geforce 2 could let you run PCSX2 well(software mode). And like no PC games. It's all relative.
