are you sure its starting at 60? it could be worth enabling VSync if the screen is flickering

Yes I can run around for maybe 15-20 seconds at 60, then i get a flicker and it drops... it isn't a constant flicker either maybe 1 or 2 every minute

IIRC, paltex is called 8 bits textures in the GUI.

I think the issue is the poor memory management. Lots of memory is allocated for nothing (due to the game/GSdx), it causes kind of swap (useless memory transfer) in the CPU/GPU.

Thank you gregory I see that the 8 bit texture box was checked when I edited the ini. Also on top of the occasional flicker (slightly annoying but doesn't impede gameplay at all) Sometimes upon exiting the backpack or save menu part of the screen will show as black or off colored blocks, but then is re-rendered within a second or 2. Other than these 2 slight hiccups I have no problems at all playing the game. There is a FPS dip when standing directly next to save portals (and I'm sure with some of the skills oyu open later there will also be FPS dips) But I am super happy with the progress that was made here Laugh Thank you all for your efforts!

I tried it with Vsync enabled both in windowed mode and fullscreen, it made absolutely no difference on either. Any other suggestions for testing would be appreciated, and if I get around to it I'm gonna try and see what OCing does for me.

are you using non-recommended speedhacks (as vu cycle stealing) or frameskip?

Yes at the moment both are set to 2 that is how I achieved an almost constant 60 FPS Tongue I think I could drop the VU down to 1 and be ok... I'm waiting for a reply on another thread regarding overclocking before I re-test all the settings Tongue But I think I could get it working smooth wihtout the speed hacks if I OC... Will report findings back when I do so!

I think VU cycle stealing can create flickering if you overuse it.

I tinkered with the OC settings on my board, and set the multipliers so that when I use 4 cores they run at 3.6 GHz, 2 cores at 3.8 GHz, and 1 core at 4 GHz respectively. While traveling through the game it runs like butter, the beginning by the portal I got a ~10 FPS increase so it runs pretty good (50-54 FPS) and the flickering/blocks after menu are still present but not as angry so I assume that has to do with my speedhacks Tongue But considering my STP is 1275 and snowblind games are taxing as hell I would say I did pretty good =D Definitely playable. And even with my OC CPU never goes over ~50% utilization and hovers around 55* Celcius. Gregory and anyone else who worked on GSDX 2.0, I salute you.

Ok after some more testing the Elfsong Tavern in Baldurs Gate DA still drops to as low as 30fps while moving around. I have seen it dip as low as 27fps as well. GS% stays upwards of 90%-100%. I would still call it playable once you move on from the tavern tho. If they are any heavier parts I don't lnow about them probably because no one has really tried playing the game fully via PCSX2 because of all the issues that has been plaguing the games.
