The downside to this is it isn't very accurate and some rather odd and sometimes scary stuff can happen which completely buggers up the display.

Thanks for the reply, that makes sense and I can see a lot of the texture side of those games being the issue.

It's just odd how one side doesn't get displayed almost at all(excluding the torches and sometimes the walls). Is there a way for software mode to possibly increase the resolution? it may not be practical but the resolution is the biggest thing bugging me at the moment lol.

If I had a smaller tv it wouldn't be as much of an issue.

Im afraid making software mode a higher resolution is not possible.

I'm not computer savvy, but I don't think that's the issue here. The latest SVN (5620) which I just downloaded, after applying the 4gb patch, isn't running Dark Alliance 2 either. I've got the same crashing issue at the menu that I had before downloading the most recent version (SVN) of PCSX2. Am I applying the 4gb update incorrectly? (I applied to both of the pcsx2.exe)

(And if I do the original method to get into the game - start+x spam - that gave massive lag with the graphics issues, it crashes here: http://gyazo.com/77217cc7a461ffc7c49ed95ff8adfd97 .)

Help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Edit: Even after going to the local disk and applying the 4gb patch to pcsx2-r5350.exe directly, the game continues to crash after the load screen.

the lag is normal since it looks like your CPU isn't powerful enough to handle it (see that EE% reaching 99-100 ? )
about the crash, just wondering, did you at least use software mode ?

Yeah, I used the f9 shortcut key. It's the reason the screen was no longer cut in half.

Here are my specs:
Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-2320 CPU @ 3.00GHz
RAM: 8.00 GB
64-bit machine.

Oops. Edit:
Judging by this post, I don't have the specs. If this game becomes more compatible with pcsx2 (Able to run on hardware), would I be able to run it?
vv
No, you definately need a multi-core processor, a VERY GOOD graphics card (I have an Raedon HD 6670) and at least 4 GB of memory (I have 12 GB on this machine). Anything less won't run them at full speed.

this game won't run in hardware mode whatever you do.
you could set extra sw rendering thread to 3 or 4, that could help.

Sorry, new as I look. Could you offer a quick explanation?
Edit: Think I found it, thanks for the suggestion.
Doesn't seem to be working, however (Still same issue)

Fell Arms: Can you try it without the 4GB patch applied and see if it still crashes in that location?

I'm not sure if I can. I applied the 4gb patch to the installer/set up, and I'm not sure if that affects the finished executable. If I re extract the SVN, replacing and reinstalling revision 5620, would that undo the patch? http://gyazo.com/3416a98703039a24a1f2ca244556dc99

This is very unusual. I managed to get in after doing what I thought might work above (There's still the potential to crash at the menu, my cpu usage maxed once before I got in; I spammed start/x until I entered the game), except now there's no lag but the massive graphical errors remain.

One last thing, cpu usage is not maxing and it seems to run smoothly.

Wait.... you applied the patch to the installer, not the actual .exe used to run the emulator? Im pretty sure doing that wont affect the emulator exe at all... so chances are you haven't been using the patch at all.
